Stripping out flame retardants?

Is it possible to strip out the flame retardants applied to fabrics? My kids got some bathrobes for Xmas and they love them, but I just realized this morning they're treated with flame retardants. The label says to wash on warm and not use soap to preserve the retardants, so I washed on hot with lots of vinegar then dish soap. Any other ideas?

I've heard that soaking over night in vinegar, then washing on hot with detergent and vinegar. This is what I've done with these things. I think what you did sounds like a good idea...?

I would love to hear what others have to say...
