cold liver oil and breastfeeding?

Does anyone take cod liver oil and breastfeed? I am just curious. I started taking it because I thought it would be good for the baby to get the EFAs in my milk but was wondering if it was the best source of EFAs possible. I used to take Prenatal DHA (Nordic Naturals) but then read the back of the CLO bottle (also Nordic Naturals) and saw that it has MORE DHA than even the DHA I was taking, plus tons of extras.

PS...It tastes horrible. Is there any way I can *cover up* the taste?

Yes lots of mamas do here. It's great for you and baby. Fermented CLO is best. It does taste bad but I just take tsp then chase it with pineapple juice. DD will take it that way too If you want more omegas how about salmon and sardines along with CLO??

I do eat tons of Sardines. I love them, never loved them until I was postpartum, isn't that funny? And DH is a salmon fisherman but he hasn't caught much lately, that means I need to really keep up on the CLO.

So...I'm taking Nordic Naturals CLO which I heard was a good company and very pure, no toxins. So I thought I was getting the good stuff! It doesn't have much vitamin D, but I don't need all the Vit D to take one with extra D because I take a separate D3 supplement that I love (Carlson's D drops).

So...What is fermented CLO (it sounds like it would taste WORSE than regular CLO) and why is it what most here use?

And do you know why I should use use CLO vs regular "Fish Oil" persay? Just curious because if they have the same amount of EPA/DHA would one be preferable over the other? I've been wondering that since my 'fish oil' comes in little capsules and the CLO in such a horrible-tasting liquid form...

I think NN is ok BUT they still put synthetics in their formula. Fermented CLO is best because they add NO synthetics at all!!! I know there's a couple clo oil threads on here with a lot of good info. The best brand is Blue Ice. I beleive you want clo over fish oil because you get the A and D. You don't get that with just fish oil Oil is preferred because it takes A LOT of capsules to equal a tsp.

I know it tastes gross
