Finally what we were waiting for happened -- DD woke up with a horrendous toothache last Wed in one of her decayed teeth .

Of course, it would have to happen the day before we were going out of town and right before two back-to-back holidays.

So, we're scambling to find a dentist to honor our request of going back with her and using the least intrusive way to handle her.

We got an antibiotic and it has helped contain some of the pain (I guess evidence that there was infection there). It is a 10-day dose of amoxicillin. My question is: After the 10 days, is it likely that the infection will come back immediately, or do we likely have any more time? (To facilitate finding someone who can work with us).

Is it possible that the antibiotic will contain the infection and we could possibly have a matter of days/weeks/whatever before it becomes infected again?

TIA
