post-partum bleeding - how long?

Wondering if anyone has any insight? Baby is 18 days old, and I am still having bright red bleeding. This is #4 in five years. I'm just not sure if this is normal... Midwife says to 'take it easy', but my hands are full!
Any ideas?

I think I had some bleeding for 5 or so weeks postpartum, which was longer than I expected. I don't remember how long it was bright red, but I do definitely remember that it would get worse the more active I was. I can imagine it's incredibly hard to take the midwife's advice and "take it easy" with lots of kids around, but you do also need to give your body whatever it needs to heal. So I wouldn't be worried about the bleeding unless it's bright red and an excessive amount, but I would try to relax and heal. Good luck!

I bled for a long time with DD: almost to the point of my 6 week appt, actually.

With my first it was a little heavier I think, but only lasted maybe 2-3 weeks.

With my 2nd, it was very light after just a few days, but drug on for like 5+ weeks.

eta: can't recall when it switched from bright red to brownish though. Sorry.

Thanks for the replies. I saw the midwife again today. She's of the opinion that because it slows down when I am able to rest, that it's likely activity-related and probably not a huge concern. My poor, shocked and traumatized uterus, lol. I think I was just getting myself all worked up b/c there is really no way for me to stay off my feet for any length of time...

Writing w/ one hand, babe in other, so bear with me.

Just wanted to say you're not alone. I keep getting told to "take it easy", too, but with other kiddos to love and care for, what am I suppose to do? I also worried about my flow, but like yours, it's heavier when I'm not resting, like I should be. We're both probably just fine, just worried for nothin'.
