tonight my dd was throwing a complete fit. She has been fighting a cold also, so I know she doesn't feel good. Anyway, She was yelling and throwing things. I got down to her level, she got mad at first, but than I said calming "I know you don't feel good, and I know that you are feeling angry right now because you wanted to eat that candy and mommy said that you have to wait until tomorrow hunny" I than said, in a toddler voice " mommy, I really wanted that candy, and I'm upset
" It's hard sometimes when you are sick, do you need some cuddles?
She gave me the biggest hug and calmed down immidiately. I was so happy for her, and so happy that this approach, which is so simple and loving, works so well
She was calm and happy the remainder of the night. This is a first. So thank you so much for teaching me how to be a better mother. I am so grateful and felt, well, just amazing, after having such a loving way to redirect my daughter.
