Right now, one of my children appears to be "behind" academically-- not behind grade level (not even close) just behind her siblings-- and I do hear about it from time to time. I just smile and say that every child is different, and if I wanted them all to be the same I wouldn't be educating them at home. They're different kids with different interests, needs, and certainly different abilities, and I happen to be smitten with all of them. 
If it goes beyond that, I usually get into the gushing because I happen to think my kids are the coolest critters ever to walk the Earth. 
I can't help it, I just think they're really neat people one and all.
