First of all, I'd like to make an announcement. For anyone who has read my many, many desperate sleep-deprived posts, I just want you to know that DD and I slept 5.75 HOURS STRAIGHT last night. Yes, that's almost six hours. 11 pm to 4:44 am exactly. You can't even imagine how wonderful I feel today. Will it last? I have no idea. But I can hope!

Now, of course, I want to exactly replicate everything we did last night. Trouble is, what I did was let her fall asleep on her own schedule. Her schedule, apparently, is to get up at 9 am, nap from 3:30 to 5:30, and then go to bed at 11. This wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that she's starting preschool two days a week, beginning next week.

So...I'm going to have to move her schedule at least an hour earlier. Preschool begins at 9, and while I don't know how long it will take to get there, I want to allow 30 minutes for travel, at least for the first few times until I figure out exactly how long it takes. So I want to leave the house by 8:30. Normally it takes DD and me at least an hour from the time we wake up till the time we're ready to leave the house. But I'm hoping that with some streamlining I can get us out the door in 30 minutes.

So, ideas? I know I could have her sleep in her clothes, but I'm hesitant to do that because her fleece pajamas function as a diaper cover and help prevent leaks. Other than that, I haven't thought of anything to make mornings quicker. Usually we get up, have milk for a while, then go potty, get dressed, read a book while I brush DD's hair, have breakfast, and we're ready to go. I guess I could skip hair brushing, although her hair is very fine and is always completely knotted in the morning.

Argh...I've been trying for months to get DD to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier on her own. Of course the one day I finally give up on trying is the day she sleeps all night!
