Born Free Bottle question

I have a few Born Free bottles, and not all the vents. Do they need to be used with the vents? It's not a daily use bottle, it's just for emergencies, so it's not like this is the baby's only way of eating and if the bottle gets full of air we're stuck. (Do the vents really make such a big difference?)

Thank you, Ana

Yes, you need the vents. They help slow down the milk flow.

You can order the vents separately.

Have you tried using it without the vent yet? Even aside from slowing the milk flow, I don't think it would work. Our lids don't screw on nice and tight if the vent isn't on. You'd probably get a lot of leaking without it.

I've used mine without the vent before without a problem. I didn't do it on purpose. I just wasn't thinking when I put the bottle together.

Thanks. I had bought a pack to have for those emergencies, and I later noticed that it had a coupon for more vents that expired on Dec. 08, but after posting and seeing that I needed the vents, I went on their website and saw that it was extended to June, so I called and they said I can still redeem it, so we're fine.

Thanks again.

Yeah, the reason for the coupon is that when they were making those boxes, the legistlation banning BPA had gone through in Canada, and demand far outstripped supply. They were being held up by the vents, so they repackaged them with 1 vent to every 3 bottles with coupons for the extra vents. My box didn't have the coupon in it, and when I mentioned it to a local baby store owner, she reached in a drawer and handed me two vents - said she'd gotten a whole box of them from the distributor once they caught up with production.

Oh, and the bottle will work without the vent - in the middle of the night I've done it on accident a few times. But it flows a LOT faster.
