Anyone a Lionbridge Internet Assessor? - Page 24

Is there ever a time where you have to work with sites that some people might consider inappropriate or of a mature content level?  I am concerned about that aspect of the internet and having to deal with that while on the job.  I would like some extra money as a part time employee. Thanks!

I have a question for those of you who have taken the exams. They emailed me the exam about a week ago and stated that there was no deadline to complete it, but they would appreciate it being completed as soon as possible. I finished it yesterday and submitted it. How long after taking it did you hear back whether you passed or failed? Also, the first test sent to me was the one where you are actually rating the websites. Is that normal? I was thinking I would have to take the other test first..

Hi everyone,

It was really helpful to read all your posts an I have two questions that hopefully someone could help answer

1) when I get the email with all the Consulting agreement, search waiver etc, the only thing I need to do is to read those documents and then follow the link to the questionnaire and sign there right?

2) how long you guys actually get the email with study material and exam information after you electronically signed the questionnaire (Terms & conditions)?

Thank you soooooooo much!!

Hi all!

My first post.

re: Lionsbridge

Applied in Oct 2011, and just two weeks ago heard back from them.  I did receive two emails from them in the interim letting me know they were still reviewing resumes and to not be discouraged (maybe not their exact words but made me feel that way).

Just took both tests and passed.  The process probably took me 10 hours, which they are upfront about in the initial materials.

I had a problem during the terms and conditions part accessing the questionnaire.  I emailed them and heard back within 12 hours with assistance on how to proceed, which I found reassuring as to their processes.

Not worked yet, just passed yesterday but looking forward to it.  Found the tasks portion interesting and something that would be easy to do a few minutes to a few hours when I have time in a day.

As a mother of an almost 4 year old, this is great.  I have been working temp jobs here and there, this will give me something to do on a regular basis that allows me to stay at home when I want to and temp when I want extra $.

I'm glad I found this thread, as I decided after passing that I should research the company and job, and the first few websites all contained negative reviews (mostly from people who didn't pass).  This one gave me a much more realistic view of the job as people were honest about both the negative and the positive.

Thanks :)

Hey guys, is this post being visited still?

I've just sent the contract. How much time someone had to wait to receive the materials?

Hello everyone I'm a guy but thought I would share here because of the internet assessor subject.

I recently just the test but it took me all 3 attempts.

The test is much harder than I expected because of the fact that there is a lot left to personal opinion

Even following the guidelines perfectly there was still an opinion factor and as a web developer my opinion varied from those who wrote the test.

I can not discuss this in much more detail in the open forum but if anyone needs some advise on passing the EXAM data send me a private message.

Paul

Hi everyone

Just recieved a reply that I`ll take the tests, so I have a question before I even start.

What about taxes ?

If a legitemate company does business in a foreign country, it sets an office there (I`m from Croatia ), so what about income tax ?

Does Lionbridge have legal entities in countries in which it does business ? Does any of you who are not from the USA and are working for LB, pay income tax ? My sister works in taxes, and she says that you`re obliged to report your income and pay insurance and tax and all that, which cuts your income in half if you do (at least in my country), and you break the law if you don`t.. so what about them apples ? jaw2.gif

Sorry if this topic was already on, I didn`t have time to go through all 468 posts

I am pregnant, can no longer work, and desperate for a job I can do from home. Any help would be much appreciated. Do you have any tips/help for this test? The one I got is for google, 144 questions, and they do not seem related to the study material we were given at all. There were no practice questions like I hear those receive who are doing the test for Bing. It seems very subjective and I wonder how anyone passes this thing.

Please PM me.

Hello, I'm an information engineer in Italy joined to LB from late February 2012 to make soma extra money from my main job. I thought that all the recruiting procedure would identify LB as a good opportunity to make home work, but at the moment I'm a bit doubtful. I explain why. First month evaluated (March), everything's fine, 3 stars. I thought "well, that's ok, at least I have minimum requirements, and being the first month, I could improve it". As I read from official website, Star Score is calculated by a combination of the following: - The accuracy of rating across ALL task types. - The participation in quality improvement activities (e.g. attendance of Webinars to which you have been invited, taking online quizzes, viewing Video Tutorials etc...). So I tried to improve during April my rating quality deepening (and slowing) my page overview and attending all webinars. My timesheet were always approved also because even if I need more time to complete task, I mantain myself near to TPH to avoid problems. I thought to have done a good job because: - I make quite detailed comments when required (and sometimes also when optional) - In almost 95% of controversial between raters in URL rating (unresolved tasks), Moderator gave right to me In conclusion, I had no negative elements. A week ago I had URL feedback for April month and I noticed that some "orange" values (e.g negative fb) were for "released" tasks, so I wrote an email to the proper contact for this reason and to ask another thing. I had no answer until now. At the moment, I still had no SxS feedback, even I made more of those tasks. Yesterday evening, I open my quality page and... ta da! 2 stars score!! OMG... I was in panic... I didn't understand for what reason, so I immediately wrote to the quality contact to ask details about it. I still have no answer. I'm a bit angry for this, because I have no elements in hand to justify this negative rate. In everyday life, when you have a job, your responsible evaluates your work and tell you if you're going good/bad. But when you go bad, he tells you why, giving you the possibility to apply fixes to your making. In LB it seems it's not so, I mean, I have 2 Stars scores, but I don't know why! And worse, I thought to go better, to have maybe 4 stars, not the half! After this, I made search and I noticed I'm not the only to have received the same treatment. I still work for LB, but I don't know when they'll fire me, I suppose soon. I'll take you updated on this situation.

Bye

I signed up recently. How do you get started?  When you do the simulator , is that just a practice area or is that counted as work?

I just stumbled upon this thread and have a question. Do you have to have a bachelor's degree to join the Lionbridge team?

Lisa, they do not require a degree. I started recently and do not have a degree.

I applied for LB a while back, took the first exam and failed.  They said they would get back to me if there was work available in the future to try again in a different area.  I recently heard back and sent in the paperwork.  I got 2 emails back, one with directions and one with a survey from survey monkey.  Is this something anyone else has encountered?  I took the survey, but haven't heard back yet.  I heard back right away last time that I failed.  I'm really hoping this is something that will work out for me this time as I am desperately trying to find ways to work from home to raise my girls and homeschool them as they get older.

Also, do any of you know if it matters what kind of computer you have (pc/mac)?  I feel weird asking this, but I really don't know the difference between the two...if there really is a difference other than operating system.

Can you please send the study material on my mail chaudhari.sarang@yahoo.com

You can certainly use any computer, but they do want you to use Firefox. Easy enough.
