Coughing all night....

DS has spent the last two nights coughing every 5 minutes or more. He semi sleeps through it (only wants to nurse ever hour or so) but I cannot sleep through it at all. He seems to do this from time to time, when he is getting over being sick usually. He has not been sick, but he is about to pop his (LAST!) bottom eye-tooth.

Anyone have any advice? WHAT CAN I DO!? I haven't gotten ANY sleep the last two nights in a row, and DS is a crappy sleeper to begin with.

I did give him a little benadryl last night.. but it only seemed to help for the first couple hours last night, before I went to bed.

A humidifier might help. Last night, I put a small bowl of water with a couple of drops of eucalyptus essential oil in my daughter's room and it helped tremendously with her nighttime cough.

We went through this back in October! I gave each kid a teaspoon or so full of honey right before bed, and also gave them some chamomile tea with honey in a sippy cup. I was shocked at how much it helped.

Hope your little one is better soon!

DD had something similar about a week ago: coughed ALL NIGHT LONG. We gave her some homeopathic cough syrup called Chestal Honey. Also gave her some Black Elderberry syrup. Both helped tremendously. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the advice.. I tried to scrounge up what I could around the house and this is what I tried--

*teaspoon of honey (he just licked it a little)
*chamomile tea with honey (didn't want to drink it )
*Hyland's C-plus Cold Remedy
*Baby Motrin
*Baby Chest Rub (Eucalyptis oil rub) on his neck, back, chest, and feet (with socks on)
*Melted some of the rub into really hot water, and put it in front of the fan in the bedroom, the whole room smells like Eucalyptis!

DH is trying to get DS to sleep right now... KNOCK ON WOOD that those things at least help a little!
