How to break the habit...

I'm tired of having to nurse my 13 month old son to sleep while rocking him and singing to him. We're going to be TTC within the next 6 months and I can't be pregnant doing this. I can't be doing this with another baby.

I need to be able to get him to fall asleep on his own..any ideas?

Have you tried getting your DH to help with bedtime routine?

Well he just got home from Afghanistan on the 23rd and we're not back home yet (visiting family) so any suggestions won't take affect until we get home next month.

Oh, I see! That changes things a little.

Having DH in our bedtime routine has changed nighttime drastically for us! I would start with putting him in one part of the routine.. like maybe Daddy does bath, books, and jammies; and then you nurse him to sleep. Then after he gets used to Daddy doing part of bedtime, you could try nursing him and then having your DH rock/walk him around to get him to sleep. For us this was more doable, bc for the longest time DS wouldn't nurse to sleep, he had to be rocked/walked.

Have you read The No Cry SLeep Solution? It has some great tips for helping babies sleep. Good luck!
