Anyone have the "art at lunch" lessons link/info?

I remember seeing somewhere a story about a mom that put out a work of art--one for a whole week--and she and her young children would discuss the work of art each day during their lunch.

I'd love to read it again for inspiration, but for my life I can't find it! Anyone? Anyone?

I'm bummed because I think there was more to it than what I'm remembering--like what different aspects of it the mother went over with her kids each day. It was really wonderful.

I'm now wondering if I saw it in the context of Core Knowledge or on a CK hsing list. Off to check that.

Let us know what you find. I'd be very interested in seeing something like this.

I don't know specifically about the scenario you are referencing, but here is a link that gives you some jump points for discussing art with children.

Can't find it anywhere. So what I remember was that every day this mom would put on a countertop easel a copy of some famous art work. It would stay there at lunch for an entire week.

Every day, they would talk about the art work. The colors, etc. I believe she said the name of the work and the artist each day. I'm not sure if she talked about the artists life at all. Her children were really young (5+/-).

So, I'm just going to wing it. Her goal was that they were able to look at art and really look at it--taking in the colors, lines, etc.

Keep looking, will ya? lol!

Your thread made me dig up a book I picked up a looong time ago. It's called, "How to Talk to Children About Art," by Francoise Barbe-Gall.

It has some art in it, as well as questions to raise while looking at the art based on age levels/difficulty, but the book is small, so the pictures are small (like a 5 x 7 in..) It's decent, so I might try this at lunch because I really like that idea while you continue to research ........

I have read about this on a few blogs (Charlotte Mason). I think it was even mentioned over at the Ambleside Online website for art study...

I've searched all of the links I've collected and can't find anything. I did find a list that we use when doing picture study titled Looking At a Work of Art that has a great list of questions to ask about the art. HTH!
