X-Post Noooooooooo-baby flipped breech at 36w!!

So--I went in for my 36 w appt and yup. Flipped. Grrrrrrrrr

Had to send me for an ultrasound--I've never had one and wanted none. Grrrrrrr

Midwives want to send me for an external version. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Better work because no homebirth with them or birth center birth with them if baby is breech. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Anyone else still breech or recently flipped breech?

Oh yeah--and I don't think I'm in the green team anymore. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm going to sulk now and go to spinning babies.

BTDT. My baby went breech at 38 weeks and turned back eight days later. I had three moxibustion treatments with a TCM practioner and had three Webster treatments with a chiropractor during the week she was breech. I must also say that as hard as it is, try to relax and not stress. Stress is what made my babe go breech in the first place. Good luck!

No stress did not make her breech

Ooops--I can't edit the title. Sorry Firewoman--the title sounds awful in light of your kind post.

I am low stress, however, baby is mad active all the time. The opposite of her brother. Continually head-down/transverse/head-down. This time, she flipped the wrong way. What is moxibustion?

Moxibustion is where they burn a certain herb on/near an acupressure point on your big toe. People say it really works. That's the only thing I didn't try with my breech boy, and he never did turn. However, he never was vertex, either - at least you know yours still has room to turn! If she can go breech, she can go back again!

I'm sorry you got an ultrasound when you didn't want one. I know how frustrating that is.

Good luck with getting her flipped back over! And if it doesn't work out, good luck anyway - maybe you can find someone else who will attend the birth you want? It's certainly no fun to switch at the very end of labor, but it was sooo worth it for me.

Just to provide a bit more info and correct this...

moxibustion is the burning of the chinese herb mugwort near the acupressure/acupuncture points on the outside of your pinky toes!

here in WA, it is done by an acupuncturist. s/he can also give you the moxa sticks to "burn" (think thick incense stick, somewhat smelly) at home in between appointments. My acupuncture friends say if it will work, it usually does so in the first 24 hours. often repeated treatments are needed.

There was a chinese study some years ago that found it to be 70 percent effective in turning a baby, but it was done starting at 33 weeks, (seems strange, because at 33 weeks, still lots of time and room to change)

I will think head down thoughts for you! if baby could turn breech now, s/he can also turn back!!!

Not that you want to switch care at this point...but is there another midwife or birth center that will attend a breech birth? Around here, hospitals won't let women deliver breech vaginally but the birth center and the HB midwives all consider it a variation of normal....maybe you have options, still. (But I will also think 'head down' thoughts for you!).

www.icpa4kids.com to find a chiro in your area certified in Webster Technique. Higher success rates than ECV and without the risks of ECV. Worked for me at 38 weeks with a 9.5lber. Good luck mama!!

Oops, I meant to say pinky toe.

I've had wonderful experience with chiropractic in pregnancy, Webster in particular. Results can be amazing...but the sooner, the better, IME.

Heads down, baby

Thinking of you!!!!

Oh no! That totally stinks! I hope your baby turns back down so you can get the birth you want.

My baby is head down at 31 weeks, but if he/she turns breech and I need to switch to a hospital birth - there is a Dr. in my area that will attempt breech vaginal deliveries. Is there anyone like that in your area?

Good luck you to you!

may sound odd - but if you have a pool nearby take a dive down to the bottom from treading - not off the side. I've done this after reading it several years back and I could feel the baby turn. I also told a good friend who was planning a hb and she was 35+ weeks. She actually dove off the diving board! her baby flipped as well - I think it much safer to tread water and swim head first type dive though.

I hope your baby turns!!

Moxibustion - may sound a little mad but it does work! my independent midwife used it for my second who was a fidget.
She also told me to sit on a birth ball instead of a low couch where poss, or cowboy style the wrong way round on a dining chair. It's the strainght back you need. They often flip back at the last minuite. Good luck & whishing you well.
