I've seen MW twice

and I am now 31 plus weeks. I have no plan on her making the birth but I don't have a birth kit this time. Please give me a short list of what I should have on hand if I don't have cord clamps ect. I really don't want to buy one this time.

string/shoelaces/dental tape for cord ties
scissors/razor for cutting cord
bowl for placenta
old towels or chux pads to protect your floors and help with clean-up

that's the essentials. And you can reduce that list by 3 items if you lotus birth! And if you delay cutting the cord for a long time (several hours) you probably don't need anything to tie the cord with.

you can probably get by with scissors and a towel if it comes down to it. wrap placenta in towel and delay cutting for several hours, until cord is cold and shriveling. if you have a bowl or ziploc baggies, you could put the placenta in there once the cord has been cut and then pop it in the fridge/freezer, depending on your plans for it.

That's what I was going to say.

I hear shoestring works well for tying off the cord.
