New mam from greece trying for her second baby

Hi to everyone
I am a 35 mam from greece
I have a son who is almost three years old. I got pregnant to my son with IVF (icsi) and from december 2009 I started my new efforts for a second child. So far I had a frozen embryo transfer in december with frozen embryos from 2006 (from my first ivf)
Lost month i started my second ivf (icsi again) and the result was negative unfortunately, just found it out on saturday
I have many frozen embryos (12) and i am thinking of making my next effort with frozen on june when my next period will come
I wanted to ask what is the status in other countries regarding the period after the transfer. Here in greece doctors suggest that you stay at bed at least 4 to 7 days after the transfer. Some doctors even suggest that you stay at home for the whole two weeks until the blood pregnancy test
This time i don't have the possibility to stay at home and not work for one week. What do your doctors suggest? How soon you can return at work after the transfer?

Welcome Zimaroulis. I'm sorry that you're having trouble. My doctor did not recommend any bed rest at all. I went back to work the day after my transfer and am now pregnant. I took it easy - didn't exercise hard etc - but that was about it. According to my doctor, the research shows that bed rest does not make a difference. Sometimes I think it just makes us feel better - like we actually have some measure of control over things. Good luck!

My number went from 192 on Monday to 1,084 today. I'm glad I went for the test today; I feel somewhat less anxious about things now. Very happy about those numbers.

Unfortunately here in greece things are completely different the majority of doctors will instruct you to stay at bed at least 4 days because according to what they say this is the period that the embryos are going to be planted. This makes things difficult if you are working and you have a kid like my case.
I have one more question did your doctors gave you a maximum number of ivf that you should do. In france i think only four are allowed. In greece there are women who have done ten and more. I am really worried about the relation of the drugs used in ivf to breast cancer. What is your exprerience from your doctors point of view?

Yes, that does put you in a tough position with work and a child. I was just responding to your question about what doctors do here. They tell me that the research shows that bedrest does not make a difference. Perhaps you could do one or two days of bed rest rather than four?

I don't know that there's a legal "maximum" number of times that women can go through IVF in the U.S. My insurance company will pay for 6. If you get pregnant during that time and then want to go through IVF for a second child, they will pay for 6 more. I did 3 in order to get pregnant this time.

Daisy-YIPEE, sounds like possible multiples, I think you transferred 2 right. Just saying

So had a bleeding scare yesterday, thought I was gonna die. Bright red blood spotting for about an hour last night and then turned brown. Gone this morning but Re wanted me to come in anyway. Thank God saw 2 perfect flickering hearbeats. When does the worrying end???

I just read about your scare-sorry-and I am so glad that you were able to see TWO heartbeats this time. I will be praying for your little ones, and I do hope there will come a time in this pregnancy when the worry will abate and you can feel at ease. It takes a while after all this. It did come for me but more toward the end of the first trimester, then there was an increasing confidence and belief.

DaisyMae, Now that's a beta jump to write home about. How wonderful! Hope everything continues just like that!

Wow MomtoA, how scary! I'm so glad everything was all right.

And the beta results had me wondering about multiples too...we did transfer two... We'll know in a couple of weeks I guess!

That is super scary -- I had something similar happen at seven weeks, the DAY after we had the confirmation ultrasound and our clinic "cut us loose," so to speak. I had horrible, horrible cramping in my lower back and abdomen and then bright red blood. I was terrified. But everything was fine, and nothing like that has happened again (I'm 12 weeks now).

I'm going into see my RE again this week even though I have been discharged... I had a bit of scare with a possible blood clot in my lung this week that was thankfully ruled out... I haven't had any abominal pain or bleeding but I want to just confirm that everything is OK, it's been a long week of tests and I feel like I've been through the wringer but I'm hopeful and will be thankful to know that everything is still progressing normally.

I'm just over here stalking a little bit and thought i'd ask a question to all you IVF-ers, if that is okay. I just got my thyroid under control and we are heading back to the RE on the 28th to see what our next step is and I kinda have a feeling she may say IVF (a little scared, but will survive!!) and I was just wondering if there are any good question you ladies who have "been there and done that" would recommend I ask.

I've been looking into the Attain program, found it on my own, and then found out by talking to them that my Dr. is part of it - crazy!! Anyways, i was also wondering if any of you have use them and if it is worth it??? My understanding is there are two different programs, one with 6 IVFs and the other with 4 and the one you can get 70% of your $ back if you don't come home with a baby. Sure wish the price included the meds b/c that would make life a lot easier. TIA and baby dust to all of you!!!!
