Lanolizing Wool

Thread Starter
I am knitting some wool soakers and need to lanolize them. I have not been able to find any liquid lanolin yet but I do have Lanisoh and lanolizing wool wash. Would the wool wash be enough to adequately lanolize the wool for the first time?

I have also seen instructions for using Lanisoh as well. Would that be enough for the first time?

Also, I've been to 3 drug stores looking for liquid lanolin. Does anyone have any clue as to where I could find it? Would wal-mart have it?

Thanks for any help!

I wash every time w/ wool wash that contains lanolin. I add lasinoh lanolin about every other time. I was gifted some liquid, maybe try hyena cart?

Here's my routine -
-fill basin w/ about a tsp of wool wash and tepid water
-add soakers/longies
-let sit for 30 minutes or whenever I get back to it
-use an old plastic bottle, put some of the washing solution in it, add a dab of lansinoh, put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Shake like mad. Lift soakers out of basin, add lanolin, swish around, replace soakers. Let sit for another 30 minutes or whenever I get back to it.
-gently squeeze water from soakers. Then, take a bath towel and put it on the floor or counter. Put soaker on towel and roll up. Apply some pressure w/ hands, knees or feet. Unroll towel. Hang or lie flat to dry.

I only ever found liquid lanolin at a cloth diaper bricks-and-mortar store, otherwise had to get it online. But Lansinoh does the job.

I have found liquid lanolin at a health food store, HomeHealth brand. I also have used lansinoh.

I used this method after seeing it recommended on another forum http://understandinglaura.blogspot.c...t-lanolin.html

I'd never used wool for dipes before and was pleasantly surprised when the longies lasted all day and never felt wet! I spent months knitting and preparing for my lo's arrival but I was still skeptical. LOL
The longies had never been washed or treated prior to the first time following the instructions above. Also, I used a Patons wool so nothing fancy. Again, being a little skeptical I didn't want to spend too much on wool. I am now shopping for fab wool!
