Painfully active babe

I'm 27 weeks, measuring 28cm, and my baby kept me up til 2 this morning with some truly painful kicks and punches. There was a period of about an hour where she would kick or punch my cervix every 30 seconds or so, so hard that my legs would automatically shoot out in response. My husband held me as I endured this and I actually began to cry! But I think it was more of an emotional when-is-this-going-to-stop cry.

Earlier last night she spent a good hour kicking/punching my left ovary!! This morning, my ovary is still bruised and I can't turn certain ways. I'm very familiar with sensing my ovaries because I've always had cysts on them that cause me pain, so I know she was kicking my ovary. I guess if I had to pick, I'd rather her kick my cervix, but either one really sucks.

Also, this morning when I was laying on my left side I felt really fast light movements all over my belly. What is that?? Much more pleasant than the other stuff though!

I'm just wondering if any other mamas are experiencing this and have good techniques for dealing with it.

Do you ever feel like you're getting a pap smear every 30 seconds at times?? There is just no other way to describe it!!

Getting kicked in the cervix hasn't hurt me much, but getting kicked in the bladder has. I think I have scar tissue from past UTIs that is sensitive.

I've also had a few kicks to my belly (no organs involved, just uterus and skin) that have truly hurt... one time my LO stretched out and I could see a foot or something poking out and it hurt SO BAD... I had to push it back in to get relief.

My DS1 never caused this kind of problem for me... not sure if my uterus is thinner because of this being my second or what.

I can also see the LO practice "breathing" through my belly... it is totally freaky.

I remember that well! The good news is that once they get bigger, they run out of room and it's not as bad. You still have lots of good jabs, but at least they no longer have such a big wind-up before the pitch.

I didn't see that with my DS1... not sure why I can see it with this one.

Oh, I'm so sorry. My sister went through this with her third baby. His kicks were so hard that she was literally purple from bruising all over her belly. It's like nothing I had ever seen.

I wish I had advice. Here's hoping the wee one grows out of it ASAP.

I was getting some painful kicks for a few days earlier this week. The baby was positioned feet down and every single kick was on my bladder. I felt like I had a bladder infection by the last day. Finally I had enough so I told her that I was fed up and she better move or else. Well a half hour later she changed position. I guess she just needed a good talking to. Actually I also tried pushing on my belly to encourage her to move so that's probably what really did it.

My baby does this, too. I get on my hands and knees and do pelvic tilts and she moves and relaxes a bit. It works every time.
