potty-learning ideas?

My DD is 2.5 and hasn't shown a lot of interest in learning to potty. I haven't pushed it at all BUT, we recently found out we are expecting #2 in August. I really don't want 2 children in diapers plus she will be almost 3 and a half by the time the baby comes. She goes to preschool and to move up the the 3 year old room (which she is ready for mentally and socially already) she needs to be potty trained. We have tried a reward for going potty but that doesn't really seem to motivate her much. Any gentle ideas for potty-learning?

I keep waffling on my opinion about 2 and 3 yr olds who don't want to be potty trained. Right now I'm on the--bad for the environment and way too expensive to keep in diapers and when they are old enough, teach them gently and expect them to use the potty--train of thought. This is a less AP approach but the more AP approaches were NOT working for me or my dd. I'm sure you'll get plenty of replies from moms who had success with a more laid back approach.

For a book with lots of ideas, try Elizabeth Pantley's book. To get through it quickly so as not to mar your relationship for months or years while you try to get it figured out, try the Less Than A Day approach. I found both of these books at my local library.

Here's a book and dvd that look good to me--haven't actually seen them, though.
