Need help deciding please!

Hi,
Our 4th child is 3 months old and I am seriously considering switching to cloth. The disposables are just not holding his bf poop and we are changing outfits several times a day. Many onesies/outfits have been stained because of this (I just ordered bac-out, hoping that will help!) Anyway there are so many cloth options out there that I am feeling very overwhelmed. I have read a lot of the reviews, it seems like there are both good and bad ones for just about every kind! I was really interested in the Kissaluvs, but our budget is kind of tight so that is out! I have narrowed it down (I think!) to BumGenius Flip or prefolds with the Bummis snap covers. They are both about the same price from what I have seen. Does anyone have experience with either one of these, good or bad? Would you recommend one over the other? I am definitely looking for the most absorbent and am also concerned about diaper rash (so far he hasn't had any, but I am worried that he might start to get rashes with the cloth).
So if anyone could help with any opinions or suggestions, that would be great!

Unfortunatly it really is a personal choice. I started w/ prefolds then tried pockets, fitteds, & all in ones and am back to prefolds cause thats what I love. One of my favorite covers is blueberry 1 size. Ive never tried the flip dipes though.

Prefolds are going to be the cheapest. Covers with snaps will last much longer than velcro too (the velcro wears out). I use hemp prefolds because they are natural w/o bleaching chemicals and absorb the best, but they cost more than cotton. I've heard the organic flip pf's are very absorbent tho. Someone will chime in and let give more info I'm sure

My recommendation is to look on Craigslist for pre-owned cloth diapers, and get a few different kinds that way. See what you like, then you can complete your stash based on that! I recently bought a huge lot of a few each of covers, an AIO, some fitteds, some contours, a couple of wool covers, and some hemp inserts for $30! They were definitely in used condition, but it was a great way for me to try some different styles. I gave the smaller sizes to a friend of a friend who is expecting and planning to CD.

There is no reason you need to commit to a style before trying them first. Have fun with it!

buying some preowned off craigslist (or I buy from hyena cart and diaperswappers) is a great idea, that way you dont shell out for something you wont like. I never buy more than 2 of a new dipe I want to try. Many many people love pfs and bummis covers, I personally dont like bummis and am a huge bumgenius fan, but I have never tried flip.
