Talk to me about sizing in covers

My 8 pounder only fit into a preemie Litewrap at birth, and for the first 6 weeks or so. At 3 months, he still only fits in the NB Imse Vimse - it was too big for ages, and even now the flaps meet in the center. The Small Imse Vimse is still far too large, the flaps overlap.

I know he's a skinny kid, but the NB Imse Vimse just barely covers the rise on the dipes anymore - I have to use the SM with prefolds because of the rise, even though it's too big in the waist... are there any wrap style covers with long rises that might fit my skinny little guy? At 3 mos he's still wearing some of his NB dipes.

Would a cover like BSWW with overlapping Velcro tabs help get the waist tight enough? I'm sorry, my babies were both average-sized, we never used Litewraps and only used Imse Vimse to try, so I can't be of more specific help, but I wanted to answer.

Same as Juliacat, I was thinking if you had a cover with velcro tabs that overlapped maybe that would work for you. Except I tend to think Bummis covers are a little stiff and even now (dd's 19 mos) favor my Thirsties over them. Thirsties run big, but your rise problem would be "covered" and the velcro tabs overlap. I have a long skinny baby too and even tho she's in the medium size now, the tabs still overlap a little on her, but we're able to get a good fit and the thirsties are a thinner PUL, but are just a lot less stiff than some of the other covers and I think that works better for us when we're wrapping it around her like we do.

My son was 10 lbs when we started cding him and the xs thirsties fit for a while....but he outgrew the rise. My fav covers are imse vimse organic, so I have 3 preemie and 3 nb for the new babe, even though both of my previous babies were over 9 lbs at birth lol. The covers run big. I would suggest you get some non PUL covers personally, like wahm covers, they fit better, but you do have to change them more often then PUL covers, since the inners arent PUL.

**some people say print dipes leak though, for me they dont, but I have heard it from others.

I also cant stand how the IV tabs meet in the middle, so swaddlebees abc wrap might be an idea, its nice and soft like Imse vimse but it has crossover tabs.

i find litewraps run huge just like thirsties. i know people say that bummis are stiffer than the thin pul like thirsties but my kids have never been bothered by them. i love bummis, always have and always will. the crossover tabs would help you quite a bit I think. swaddlebees are very similar(though more pricey) to bummis with the "stiffer" pul and the crossover tabs and I find the fit nearly the same. so i say save yourself $5 and go with the bummis.
