So, I really wanted to CLW, really agree with it, and also have had a VERY intense nursing experience, that has been painful for much and has involved VERY little sleep. I had decided to wean slowly (my DD is 26 mos) and went from nursing on demand to nursing every 3 hours (she was nursing every 20 minutes!). Two days later, she would suck and suck and suck and then say "no nummies in that boob", letting me know that there was no milk left. It would HURT to nurse and so we went down to 2 nursings per day, one first thing in the morning and one at night, to ensure that my breasts were REALLY full and didn't hurt when I nursed.
That's been going well for several weeks and I thought "oh maybe I'll just keep with this pace for a while", but my DD is still so upset about it during the days, that I want to start reintroducing a couple sessions back into the day time. However, I just have NO milk and have had such ravaged nipples over the course of our BFing experience that I really don't want to go through MORE pain of usper hard sucking for milk that seems to have dried up.
Anyways, should I try using some herbs (blessed thistle, fenugreek etc) to increase supply? Will that help at this point in the nursing?
I am hoping to go until she's done, and that doesn't look like anytime soon, and I just feel so bad to not be able to offer her milk when she obviously REALLY wants it... thanks
