TF diet w/ no gallbladder?

I have a friend who had her gallbladder removed. She currently eats low fat b/c of this. I was wondering if it is ok/good for you to eat a TF diet, w/ good fats when you have no gallbladder.

Any ideas or links you all have would be greatly appreciated!

I would look into taking a bile salt supplement.

Interesting. I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago and eat a fairly high fat TF diet, and I haven't had any problems. It is something I've been meaning to look into more, though, so thanks for the thread!

I also had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago, and I haven't noticed any difference in what I can eat at all. but I know this differes between people, so if I were you're friend I'd try to transition slowly and pay attention to how she feels after eating higher fat meals.

my dh had a gallbladder issue and started taking enzymes - Enymedica's lipo gold or some such thing - whenever he ate a fat-filled meal.

I have never had my gallbladder nout even though I have had serious attacks i the past, but I still consider that an organ I have to baby and treat well. I find that with TF's I need extra liver care with herbs and my favorite, dandelion. And making sure you consume enough cultures is a must.

Also, TF dosn't have to equal high fat. I am feeling better eating only around 30% fat (55% carbs, 15% protein). But that fats I DO eat are TF, and I soak my grains, eat ferments, etc.

I had my gallbladder out about 7 years ago, and I find that I can eat much higher fat now than I could before, so maybe it is different for different people. According to fitday.com, about 55% of my diet is from fat.

Thanks for all the info everyone! Yay! I'm really glad she can totally embark into more TF eating if she chooses!
