No-Scratch Mittens Pattern?

Does anyone have a no-scratch mittens sewing pattern or know of any blog site where someone has put out instructions? I'm quite sure I can probably just make them from fabric scraps I have and that it's not complex, I'm just anal .

Thanks!

Just take the outline shape of a baby's hand and trace it on paper, cut that out and use it as a pattern, sewing with right sides together sew the opposite edge from the thumb together. attach elastic about a 1/4" from wrist seam while stretching it. I use a zig zag stitch for somethign like this. leave a tail of elastic trailing over the thumb edge of the mittens. Don't forget to press a bit of fabric down to finish the upper edge above the elastic. Close up the rest of the seam.

Make sense?

I kinda just freehanded a upside down "U" sewed right side of fabric together turned it inside out and then lightly stretched elastic to the outside of the hem (slightly above hem edge) and sewed with zig zag stich. I like to add the elastic to the outside so it dosent chafe or cut into the baby. I usually use a flannel or nice knit.

Thanks! What you've both described is on the lines of what I was thinking of doing - though for some reason elastic hadn't entered my mind so I'll add that into my plans! I haven't been able to find these mittens for a price that seems worth it and I am new but pretty ok at sewing so it makes so much more sense to just make them.

Thanks again!
