For those of you who like microfiber...

So, I found an amazing deal on MF cleaning cloths... they have a ribbed texture and looked like they'd be even more absorbent than the ones I use to dust the house that are just a flat-ish, short piled cloth. they are thin, but not as thin as their non-ribbed cousins. (think of a wide ribbed tank or something)

My question... if you purchased them new, and washed the heck out of 'em, would you use these as soakers in a diaper?

I hope to sew some of my own dipes and soakers, esp since i've been collecting scrap fabric of all sorts, but these just seemed like they'd be a great way to get MF, and the size is about right.

If you would use them, would you use 2 layers by themselves, (i'd trim to be a "standard" ish size) or cut it in half, and use one layer sandwiched between layers of cotton flannel or some other material? I was thinking that the MF might not be great against baby's skin... am I wrong?

Any thoughts about this, or should I just wash them and start using them around the house?

TIA , still only daydreaming about dipes, and haven't been able to use any in practice yet....

ETA: yes, I overanalyze everything...

Microfiber makes for great soakers and inner layers to diapers! You are correct, you do not want it touching baby's skin. It will pull too much moisture directly from the skin and could irritate. Many trainers use two layers of mf sewn into them. I have seen soakers for pocket diaper that are tri-folded into three layers and then sewn together. There are lots of variations, but it does hold a lot of pee and washes up nicely.
