I DID IT!!!!  WOO HOO!!!

I am really, really proud of myself for accomplishing this goal!! It was a busy year with being pregnant, having my homebirth end up in a cesarean, battling postpartum depression and raising my 3 boys. I think this was one of the best things I could do for myself and my family this year.

OMG my son cleaned his room...  I have a pile waiting for HH and that should be gone tonight or tomorrow then i will count those items.  However things not going to HH I am going to count as 150.

I need to get in there and help him again but I am so proud of DS... he was almost manic, He didnt realize how much stuff he had and once he got started the stuff just kept coming and coming and coming  LOL.  Maybe he learned a lesson?  Like do NOT wait all year to clean your room  hehe

We rearranged appliances in the kitchen and ditched a 20+ year old microwave (still works) and a 10+ year old toaster oven (plus under-cabinet metal bracket). Microwave went to Goodwill. Metal bracket went to recycling. Toaster oven went in the dumpster. We actually tried to recycle them all, but the two we didn't weren't accepted.

We also donated a clock radio that day.

Today, I pulled everything out of the charity pile in my closet. (Got tired of cramming more stuff in there! ) I counted as I packed it up into a giant bag: doll moses basket, blanket, kitchen items (two sets of bowls plus lids), kids clothes, adult clothes, and a few random items. I threw out the pair of flip-flops DD accidentally spilled nail polish on, likewise the Home Depot kids apron with her full name on it (way too small now).

All told, 41 items left our home today and last weekend. I don't expect to see much more go before the end of the year (or even next year). We don't have a lot of clutter, but I've enjoyed this challenge nonetheless.

Threw out 25 bits of broken toys, crayons etc this week.

Well only a couple of weeks to go.  I hope to get quite bit done this week....

I wasn't really counting the everyday clean-up in the past few months, but I was at the beginning of the year and I think I will again.

We received 9 packages in boxes and 3 more in padded envelopes in the last few weeks. I had been saving them for the purpose of sending out our packages and for a school project. I ended up packing everything up today and didn't use any of those boxes. I had already used one for the school project last week. So, DH broke down the other boxes (7, we kept the giant one for DD to play in for awhile longer) and recycled them. He also got rid of all the "stuffing" we don't need (counting as one). I had a stash of padded envelopes and two of those worked for today's packages. I weeded out my stash and got rid of 3, so a total of 5 left our house.  = 13

I was cleaning up various hot spots in our house and wrapping Christmas gifts while DH & DD were out shopping. Ended up with half a bag of trash and half a bag of recycling from stuff that was just old (coupons and notices and other such stuff) and from taking tags and packaging off of the Christmas gifts. = 2

Up to 1055.

We critically evaluated all the holiday decor (tree & home) before putting it out. Half a dozen items meant nothing to any of us, so they went into a new charity bag. Today, I reorganized my clothes drawers and added a few items to the charity bag. I also tossed out a few pairs of underthings. I only get to count those items because I only count items once they have left our home.

I also finally moved some beautiful handmade paper flowers from a wedding back in October to their new homes in our house. One rosy pink one is enchanting DD in her bedroom. I removed the wedding extras (cellophane and such), then rewrapped three flowers and put them in our powder room in a crystal vase. I decided to toss out the white paper rose from one of our wedding gifts (gorgeous back in it's day) that had been in that vase. The burgundy, yellow, and pink ones look more bold and rich in our cranberry-colored powder room.

Today I spent about an hour (yes an hour!) going through my box of 'important' papers.  This really needed some weeding then shredding.  This box became a catch all for papers, school info I sent away for when inquiring for programs for DS (years ago), old tax records, my old bankruptcy filing (7 yrs ago!), old child support info, unemployment documents,ya'll get the point.  Needless to say my 'shred' pile was larger than my 'keep and file' pile.

I am giving myself 10 points because this did take an hour and there was a ton of paper that left this house

I finally hung our family art up on the massive blank wall in the kitchen today: six pieces of DD's and two each for DH & I. Certainly brightens the room up! I let my DD choose her art and, in the process, she & I recycled a total of 15 pieces of art neither of us likes (of our own art). I had already photographed every piece of artwork and we had already recycled some back then. Round two is complete, Baby!

I also consolidated the portfolios from 4 down to 2. Recycled.

I cleaned out the hall closet this evening and we added 3 items to the charity bag, but not counting those yet.... I should count the dust bunnies, though.
