Pixiemammy, your post about decluttering being dangerous work cracked me up! It reminded me to slow down a little in the madness of going through this house. Glad you're ok.

I've just been keeping track of my numbers, not the exact items. I'm up to 168/2010.

Today I'm working on the less obvious areas of each room...junk drawers, files, etc. The house looks the same when you glance around, but it feels good to have drawers and closets more organized. Decluttering gives me so much energy!

I've declared January as Garage Month. Dh looked a little worried when I made this declaration. Sometimes it is fun to scare him like that! I'm going through and doing the purging and then we'll rearrange the storage and fridge/freezer to make it more usable. Our home doesn't have a mudroom and we mainly enter through our garage door so I'm creating a mudroom of sorts in our garage...shoes, coats, etc. It will be so nice to have the designated space for those things.

Thanks for all of the motivation!

Alright, I'm in!!! I have to keep on top of the constant clutter that keeps coming into this house!

I have already given a couple bags of stuff to goodwill, so I am going to start my count at 100. I cleaned off the counter and threw away 5 things.

I just saw this thread & wanted to join.
DH and I decided to de-clutter this year in order to put our house on the market next year. On Wednesday, we committed to purging 10 things a day each, 20 total, every day. So far, we've each met our goal and then some. Ten things doesn't sound like a lot, but we know ourselves and know that we're more apt to stick with modest goals.
I purged all of the kitchen drawers except one the first day, and he did the other one. We got rid of dozens of things - several bags full.
On day 2, I went through the linens that are attached to the kitchen and he purged stuff from our bedroom and our daughter's room.
Today, we went through several book cases, purged all of DD 's(4) board books and books she's outgrown, some VHS tapes, a bunch of DH's old software, and several dozen random books.
Since we didn't keep count beyond our ten things a day, I'm happy to say that we've purged 60/2010 things so far

Well I didn't tackle the kitchen - I decided to start on the spare room which is just a room full of clothes and little to no storage. I can't believe how much I am getting rid of. 183 more items are making their way out of here. MANY pairs of old, holey socks are in the pile.

So now my total is: 454/2010.

I haven't forgotten the pics Dh just hasn't uploaded them for me yet (I don't know how to work his camera and my one stopped working). I can say that there will be a pleasant surprise at the end of all of this! Some of the photos I took were shocking.

3 junk mail envelopes living on my counter- trash
2 throw-away bags also living on counter- trash
1 excess popsicle setup- donate
1 throwaway glad container- trash
1 random extra measuring spoons- donate

8 items so far today = 180 total

Also decluttered some random stuff from my mom's yesterday, from the pile in my old bedroom that's been there for 12 years now . I told her to just throw it all in the trash or donate it, since I obviously haven't missed any of those things in all these years since I've moved out. She won't do it though.
