I got rid of a large bin of diapers, guestimate 100, 3 candles, teeth whitener, 8 mismatched pj's, box to recycle.
ka-BOOM! i forgot, dh also got rid of his entire comic book collection last night. i'm going to count that as (very low-ball estimate here) 100 items. in reality, it was probably closer to 200 but i didn't count and i'm happy to call it 100 since it was quick & painless . . . i didn't even have to do anything but remind him!
updated total: 332!
We dropped off the bag to Goodwill today before ice skating practice. Yippee! It is out of our house now!
I also recycled the 2009 calendar we were using in our kitchen (photo calendar, so it was a sentimental item....but serves no purpose any longer, so out it goes) and a handmade stuffed paper turkey my DD and her friend made for us (also a sentimental item, but serves no purpose any longer...I did photograph it, though).
My total is 35 now....
Slow and steady will get me to 2010 by the end of 2010, right????
I have been going through things a little at a time.
I am currently scrapbooking (project challenge) and I have recycled several items (5) and tossed out used up adhesive (2). =7
DD had a birthday party on Saturday and instead of going to the store to buy a gift, we went shopping in our gift box (items I have purchased ahead of time). Two items left our home that suited the birthday girl quite well and now we have room for all the gifts to actually be inside the gift box. =2
We have a dozen items in the perpetual charity bag (which was emptied earlier this month), but I don't count until the items are physically out of the house.
My total is now 44 of 2010, which is still a very small percentage (just over 2%). If I did the math correctly, in order to go slow and steady and achieve the ultimate goal of 2010 items, one would get rid of 5.5 items every single day in 2010. We've completed 17 days of the year, so that would be 93.5 items gone... to be on track. I am behind. Luckily, there is plenty of time to catch up!
