What are your faves and where are you buying them? I have some of the basics (TTO, lemon, etc) but would love new ideas!

Great question. I am interested in the answers. Wonder if this would get more traffic on the Frugality and Finances forum? I'm gonna post it there and see what happens. :-)

The staples in my home are Tea Tree, lavender and Euycaliptus (spelling?) oils.
My favorite smells for use on my clothes or around the home are Cedar wood oil and Patchouli.
I get these at co-ops and health food stores.

I saw it there and I checked out Green Mountain Herbs. I also should have asked about recommended aromatherapy books.

I've been using rosewood, burning it in an oil burner, but after awhile it started to have a sponge-type smell to it... I don't know what that's about.

I like peppermint oil for baths. I add a few handfuls of epsom salts into the bath with like 15 drops of peppermint oil.... love it! It makes the bath all tingly!

I've been buying them at chain health food store near my house, but I'm going to start looking online, I need a bigger selection.

Ms Bobcat, what exactly do you do to scent your clothes? I was thinking a spray bottle with water and a few drops, shake it up, and spritz?

I love EOs! I use lavendar & chammomile for baths, kids & mine. Peppermint also for adult baths & for scenting my vinegar for cleaning. Sometimes I add peppermint & rosemary to my shampoo. I usually add tea tree oil to the kids' shampoo to prevent lice. Tea tree oil for acne blemishes. When I had warts on my feet lavendar cleared them up when nothing else would. When we have colds/congestion I add some eucalyptus to the bath and/or white cedar.

I buy all of mine at the local health food store.

I love essential oils!!! I buy them at the health food store, but I was just at a Natural Food Co-Op store where they sell them in bulk at a ridiculous price!!! It's 7 hours from my house though, so I'll stock up next time I'm visiting my family.

Lavender - I use this in the bath, on a cloth in the dryer to scent laundry, in my diaper wipes and diaper mat spray, and dilluted in water to scent my bed.

Sweet Orange - I just bought this and the clerk told me it's great for taking off stickers and for cleaning. It smells really cheerful too.

Peppermint - I put this in my toothpaste powder so it tastes better.

Clove - Dillute it for toothaches or teething pain.

Eucalyptus - I sniff this to *hopefully* ward off colds, and put it in a pot of water to disinfect the house if someone is sick.

Patchouli - To scent lotion, I love the smell.
