Whoo-hooo! Thanks for sharing! I purposefully did not read the comments, though! People can be so ignorant/mean/just-plain-stupid.

New here but this thread made me register! I decided about a month ago to stop shaving. It just hit me I really don't enjoy shaving, it irritates my skin, and I've only been doing it because women are "supposed to" remove hair. I'm a little nervous about going out in public with hairy legs but it hasn't come up yet in this cold weather. My husband wanted me to keep shaving my armpits and I have to admit I only agreed to because I don't know if I have it in me yet to show armpit hair in public.

I have a question for you long-time hairy mamas, do you think people really even notice your hair all that much? I have pretty pale skin and dark/brown black hair so this is a concern of mine. lol. And how do you handle any rude comments from people you know? Or does this not come up much? Thanks for making this thread, I'm glad I came across it now!

welcome ladygish
i don't find anyone really notices or cares.

ladygish~I'm pretty new to this too. I shave from the knee down in the spring/summer and in the fall and winter I don't wear skirts so people don't notice most of the time. I don't shave my armpits, but I don't wear tanktops either. And I don't not wear these things because I'm not shaving, just because they aren't my style.

The only time someone has noticed is health care professionals at my doctors office and at the hospital. My doctor was like, "don't worry, you don't need to apologize for not shaving!" I wanted to say, well....I wasn't going to anyway! And in the hospital, they were giving me an EKG and they put 2 pads near my ankles. The nurse said, "These will take off some of that hair for sure!". I thought it was kind of weird for the nurse to say anything at all, but oh well. Some people, especially women, just don't get it.

I think you need to be prepared for people to notice. I am also light-skinned and dark-haired and when I wear shorts and tank tops, people notice. It doesn't happen often, but I have had people stare, laugh, make rude comments, etc. Either dress in such a way that no one can see your hair, or prepare yourself to not care what others think.

~ hippieshelly I figure every once in awhile I'll come across some rude person who won't be able to resist letting me know they see hair. But hey, people sometimes look at me strangely anyway for how I dress so what's the difference? Either way, glad to hear from another pale skin/dark haired person...sometimes I wonder how many in this thread are lucky enough to have blonde leg hair. lol. Mine is definitely noticeable.

hi ya fellow hairies it's been a LONG while since I've been around one of these threads.

I am also a fair skinned dark haired hairy mama. I'm also a figure model so for the past 13 years I've been having young minds reconsider the idea of beauty = hairlessness

just wanted to stop by and say hello and welcome to all the new hairy mommas. still fluffy here and loving it. Anyway hang in there I have only gotten a few rude comments and one was from my boss but now I just keep my pits covered and my legs covered if I am going to work for even my paycheck since he made a huge deal about it. I think that he was the only one that really bothered me. But like I said i am still fluffy so i am back in the thick of it if you will.

I have missed you to MF. I still dont have internet at home so I can only get on the internet when I visit the inlaws or go to the library. It sucks. I am hoping that in the next three months we will have internet so I will be able to chat with everyone again.

no internet
yeah like I said totally sucks because this is how I talk to family as well since phone is soooo high when you add long distance for both sides of the coin. Anyway also we had a camera so the family could talk to the boys but with no internet no way they can do that so It really is hard for all of us.
why can't you get internet at home?
my energy bill has been high for a couple months no matter what we do. I have changed all the light bulbs, we also turn the lights off when noone is in the room, we also got new washer and dryer energy effiecient for christmas, and we unplugged everything as well as have some stuff on a serge protector power strip that is supposed to help the energy level and we have the thermostat down to 65. I have also doubled up on the plastic on the windows in our house and still the energy bill was 300 dollars and we dont have natural gas. I cant get internet with that much of a bill that has been two months in a row and probably next month. What am I to do? I am so mad I could spit nails and the electric company can not tell me where I am losing this energy.
wow that bites could there be a leak somewhere? or maybe a faulty meter? or a neighbour stealing your power? maybe your heating is the culprit and sucking more power than it's meant to somehow
post #58 of 195
My inlaws think that it is a neighbor that is taking power. Yeah we have some leaks but I have done all I can do too. I never thought about a faulty meter because from the time they read the meter to about four days ago supposebley we had used 5000 kilowatts. crazy we dont have any lights on and still we are using that much energy oh well I told my hubby we just need to move.
it could very well be a neighbour is stealing power. can you get that looked into?
yeah i could and I think i will this week. Well sorry to cut this short since I have not talked to you in forever but I ahve to get up early tomorrow my DH grandfather passed away last week so we have to go to a funeral tomorrow. the boys are honorary pall bearers I think that is how you spell it, which to tell you the truth I have no idea what that means except i had to pay for better dress clothes. I know that sounds mean but that is really not how I meant it promise. ya chat with you probably next week.
