Thank you, Blue. I have no idea where Washington is, but I will google it and give them a call. Yay! I'm planning on renting her a violin to see if she really wants to do this, find a teacher, and go from there.

Drummerswife, you can also look into UNM, they have a good program, although the semester might have already started.

Yes, UNM prep school began 2 weeks ago. It is such a great program for beginning music lessons + super affordable and scholarships for those who need them. They mostly offer fall and spring sessions.

not sure how old your child is but when i looked into suzuki for dd when she was almost 4 all of the instructors i called started the kids on a box for at least a few months. We decided not to do it then because there was no way that kid was going to pretend to play violin on a box for a few months.

does anyone know of a toddler hair stylist who is good with curls? I think i will eventually have to cut Ds hair. It is too cute but last night he was adament about not letting me get out the dreadies and it feels mean to torture him just cause i love his hair. I know he will freak and not like someone cutting his hair so i need someone who is good with littles and their 'tudes.

Thank you all for the suggestion on violin teachers. I wish I hadn't missed the start of the UNM program.

a-sorta-fairytale - I don't know of a kid place, but I'm guessing he wouldn't he let you cut it? Mine don't want knots combed out of their hair (or like me to wash it) but for some reason they do stand still for DH to use the clippers or scissors.

I missed this. But no, I can't see my almost 9 yo pretending to play a box. That wouldn't fly. I'm not married to suzuki, but enjoyed it as a child when I learned to play the flute so that was where I wanted to start looking. I'm open to anything that my DD will enjoy and we can afford.

i wouldnt even try - if i have to get rid of all of the adorable baby ringlets then i at least want a cute style for him - if dh or i did it he would end up with a buzz cut
