Whew - 1/3 of the way there!!

January 1 - Franks and beans. Exciting, I know.
January 2 - Cereal for lunch, pasta with sauce and garlic bread for dinner.
January 3 - DD asked for bean and cheese nachos.
January 4 - Fresh from the oven, homemade bread with butter, jelly, and peanut butter (not all together!) We ate so much, nobody was hungry for a 'real' dinner. Have black beans soaking for tomorrow.
January 5 - Turkey dogs wrapped in crescent rolls.
January 6 - The beans still haven't made it onto plates yet. I was planning on making sweet potato burritos with the black beans, but I napped with the kids, so we had a mishmash for dinner - yogurt, carrots, salad, random stuff.
January 7 - I don't even remember what we had last night, but I know we ate it here.
January 8 - Sweet potato burritos, finally! Hoping to use up the rest for taco soup sometime over the weekend.
January 9 - Scrambled eggs, bacon, english muffins = breakfast for dinner
January 10 - Red beans and rice with sausage
January 11 - The kids had pb&j's with apples (their choice); I had a salad.
January 12 - My dad took us out to dinner, so technically we ate out, but we didn't pay for it.

Just a quick note that I'm bowing out. I'm having a hard time keeping up with the few other threads I'm participating in, and don't want to just drop this without saying so.

isosmom- I like your idea of changing the color of the number! Subtler than the smilies & then you have them all in a column for easy review.

1- homemade pizza, 1 pepperoni and 1 onion, red pepper, black olive. made a white bean soup
2- homemade biscuits and gravy with pot roast leftovers. made "healthy no-bake cookies"
3- chicken & pasta casserole (I had enough for two last week), yummy salad. whole wheat banana bread with flax & ground oatmeal.
4- FFY. linguine marinara for a late lunch...
5- I made my first whole chicken! in the crock, rubbed it with salt, pep & paprika, and set it up in the slow cooker with lemon, garlic and rosemary... kind of like here, but with paprika. - I saved the white bean soup! - Made medium grain brown rice & added frozen peas toward the end.
6- late snack- homemade pizza with roasted eggplant & goat cheese.. a little bit of leftover dough got made into a solitary cinnamon roll sort of thing, for which I even made icing.
7- I made the brown rice with peas again and used some strategic positioning to hide it in the fridge, since it got scarfed down so quickly last time :P leftover chicken, some zucchini... chips and salsa after the baby went to bed...
8- had a yummy salad for lunch, enchiladas with leftover chicken for dinner!
9- Mojadra- lentils and rice (a little salt) topped with seasoned carmelized onions (a little salt, cumin, coriander, pinch of cayenne) and yogurt mixed with dill.
10- pasta with shrimp, leeks, broccoli, and a little red pepper & olive oil. making a cake tonight so it will be ready to frost in the morning... finally baked some super sour sourdough I had in the works for a couple days.... also made banana bread.... as well as cheesecake-swirled brownies ....!
11- lunch out with my dad for my brother's birthday... leftovers, cake, etc.
12- still have leftovers to use up! If we can take care of a lot of those at lunch, I will make the stew.

I have no idea when I will get to the meals I planned, my trip to the store where we get cheaper produce has been delayed til Friday so I need to reevaluate what we have

eventually...:
Three Sisters Stew (from FtWF)
pot roast with parsnips
also planning to make this parsnip soup a couple of you are making!
leftovers with make-ahead mashed potatoes
lentils w/ spinach (thank you LizzyQ!), roasted carrots
lemon & garlic quinoa salad (FtWF)

OK I am glad I'm not the only one wanting to make everything, as well as hearing complaints about too much soup! Bread bowls are a fabulous idea, my home made bread could probably "sell" anything that would fit inside it [/QUOTE]

So, I'm trying a new thing where I plan out meals for 2 weeks, to cut down on the spur of the minute shopping. We're trying to work our way to only shopping once a month and sticking within a very tight budget in 2010. Lunch (and breakfast when dh has his way) is generally leftovers and I eat lots of leftovers when dh's at work.

1. Homemade Mac & Cheese and Meatloaf
2. Spaghetti & Garlic Bread
3. Leftover Mac & Cheese
4. Beef Stroganoff
5. Leftover Spaghetti (just me, didn't feel like cooking)
6. Hash (stew - simple and yummy)
7. Leftovers/cereal
8. Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs and homemade Potato Salad (Because we love the ribs so much I double the recipe and make it w/ boneless country style pork ribs instead. I cook it on high the entire 8 hours - you have to stir it more often to keep it from burning and it's a little bit messier, but always a hit)
9. Spaghetti w/ meatballs (dh loooooves spaghetti btw, we eat it alot)
10. Leftover Spaghetti and BBQ
11. Ranch Chicken w/ Roasted Veggies (this is the closest to my recipe - only I just brown the bread crumbed chicken in the skillet (instead of cooking it through) and then bake the chicken breasts for about an hour in a 350 degree oven)
12. Leftover BBQ
13. Homemade pepperoni & mushroom pizza
14. Leftover BBQ
15. Bow Tie pasta w/ Chicken, Mushroom and Spinach in a Cream Sauce
16. No leftovers so, I got lazy and got some fast food. - that'll teach me.
17. went to a class @ church where we had fried chicken, salad, rolls and cookies. Bonus.
18. Chicken/Brocoli/Rice

Planned:
19. Tuna Casserole
20. Whole Chicken w/ Roasted Veggies
21. Leftovers
22. Pot Roast w/ Veggies
23. Leftover Chicken/Broc/Rice - yum!!
24. Manicotti
