smoothie maker

does anyone have a good reccomendation on a smoothie maker? I don't like using the food processor or blender - such a mess for a glass of stuff. Anything simple?

I use a hand-held immersion blender. About $20, came with a cup and a lid. Works great, but a little more muscle required than the blender!

I killed my blender last month. I am saving up for a vitamix.

Sadly, my vitamix died recently too (it was the absolute best for making smoothies!) But my mom bought me this thing called "the Ninja". It's like a blender, but you snap the motor on the top. It's very inexpensive and makes great smoothies--the next best results that I've seen aside from the vitamix. It can handle a whole container full of frozen whole strawberries, which is pretty impressive!

Don't throw the vitamix away! I think you can use it as a trade in for $100 or so towards a new one (if you're interested in a new one!)
