I just had a NST this morning, and baby is doing fine and I'm having small contractions every minute with stronger but painless contractions every 9 minutes or so. I'm being induced on Monday with cytotec.

Something I thought was odd about my uterine activity is that I was never at a 0 on the monitor. That tells me I'm constantly in some state of a contraction, the nurses didn't think anything was wrong with that, but I think its odd. Anyone know what's up with that? My baseline for uterine activity was about 20, with the every minute small contractions around 35 or so, and the stronger contractions were around 70.

I don't know about the uterine activity baseline stuff, but I'll bet someone else will. If nurses weren't bothered by it, that seems to be a good sign. Meanwhile, very glad to hear the baby's doing fine---I hope you're doing fine, too. Here's some happy labor juju coming your way---

Thanks, I need the confidence and support right now.

I've had a bad cold (bad enough to lose my voice the other day) so I don't even know if an induction while sick is a good idea or not. I assume its not. They're also planning on using cytotec, but I'm going to call them today and see if I can get anything else. Along with that, I have to deal with my nervousness knowing I'll be in labor tomorrow, and the fact that tomorrow I could be holding my baby! Its a very odd feeling to know his birthday before he's here.

I need more vibes! I'm nervous..

How about kisses--
Hugs--
Fairy dust--
Positive vibes--
And lots of peace and tranquility--

All will be well for you and baby. It's going to be amazing. I'm willing it that way!

Sonicfrost: Good luck! I hope all goes well. I would ask them to use something else other than cycotec too. From what I have read, that drug just doesn't seem safe. Are you dilated at all? If you're not dilated much I'd ask them to start with cervadil. Sometimes that alone is enough to get things going if you're constantly contracting anyway. I have constantly contracted each pregnancy. For me that is the state of normal.

Thank you!!

I'm trying to concentrate on getting to meet this little guy, that should lighten my nerves.

Induction failed. Upon arrival at the hospital my cervix was closed. 1 dose of 25mg of cytotec and 4 hours later, I was 1 cm. Got a second dose and started contracting every 4 to 6 minutes, but they were painless. 4 hours after the second dose, I'm only 1 1/2 to 2cm. I was walking up and down the hallway all day, only dilating a total of 2cm in the 9 or so hours I was there. I had gotten 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night, due to a combination of nerves, achey hips, and a bad cold. I have lost my voice today and it was so frustrating talking to the nurses in a whisper.

I just hope the induction did SOMETHING to kick start labor. Maybe I'll wake up tonight to some real contractions.

Man oh man. That sounds disheartening. Well, you must be one of those long gestators (that should really be a real word), like me. Have you tried acupuncture? I'm trying that for the first time tomorrow morning. I've heard tons of people describe how acupuncture helped kickstart their labor. Anyway, please keep us updated!
