Charlotte Mason -- a basic question

Ok I have two younger boys -- though we fully call ourselves homeschoolers at this point, as we've had so much push to have DS1 in pre-school and because basically everyone here his age, and a full year yonger IS in preschool and a lot of it.

So We are pretty sure we will follow a Classical Style with a more school at home apprach.

However DS1 is a SN child, so we will be totally waiting on him to be ready -- at least untill 7 or 8 ... he is asking now to do school daily and is great with numbers so i don't think he'll "stay back on his own" too long.

Anyway i was reading on teh WTM website about Charlotte Mason and Classical Ed and how they are similar and not ...

so I am feeling i need a better understanding on Charlotte Mason ...

what would be a good "starter" book.

I own the Charlotte Mason Companion and like it.

Catherine Levison wrote a few books called "A Charlotte Mason Education" and "More Charlotte Mason Education". It's explains it pretty well in Laymen terms. I want the Charlotte Mason Companion book. It's on my list. You can probably check the Levison books out from your library.

It seems those who like WTM incorporate CM and vice versa. They intertwine them.

aimee, the most helpful resource for me personally regarding CM is http://simplycharlottemason.com/ it really addresses your question asking how CM and classical are alike and different. the website is really wonderful, and it's easy to spend too much time there hth.
