would you buy this online?

I'm not sure what forum this belongs in, but my son wants to buy a certain Hot Wheels car here:

But when you add it to your cart, they make you sign up for their "special club" which is free, but you have to give your email and birthdate, and maybe other info too, I didn't go any further. This particular pack is not available anywhere else, I looked elsewhere for it. I am very wary of buying stuff online, and especially if they are making me sign up for something. What do you think? Anyone have an opinion on this?

The site was straight from the main Hot Wheels site, but I have never trusted that site, because when my kids played the games on it the computer would do weird things afterwards.

So would you buy this online from this site or not?

What about calling them and trying to order it over the phone? Here is their number from their website: 1-800-858-0102

If their site is making your computer act funny, I would think that alone would be a good enough reason to try to order by phone rather than online.

I also tried Googling that car, and couldn't find it anywhere else. (Although I did find a green version on Ebay for $71 )

Thanks, that's a great idea. It's just something about them requiring you to sign up for their "special club" to order this that throws up red flags for me. Calling is a great idea. I order a lot of stuff online, really. I don't really buy a lot of "stuff" it's just that a lot of what I need is not to be found locally for me (homeschooling supplies, supplements, special foods, snow boots even). So when he has his own money to spend, he often thinks about looking up what he wants to buy on the computer. I try to be very select about who I am ordering from online, and this just seems odd to me. I will try calling tomorrow. Thanks for trying to google the item for me! I did think of that, but couldn't find it anywhere else. I must have missed the $71 one! Phew!

We have ordered from them before and I have a 'special' email account for online orders. Its more of my spam account. Oh and BTW I never give my real bday etc for things like that. I did get alot of spam but was able to click the opt out link and eventually it stopped, again I have the different account so it doesnt really matter.
