Anyone starting 30 day shred?

I bought this dvd before Thanksgiving and finally started using it today. I really like it. I am not a person who normally likes workout dvds. I feel that they are kind of sillyand usually the trainer irritates me, b/c they are too smiley and fake. I do not like Jillian Michaels on The Biggest Loser, b/c she seems so mean. However, I was pleasantly surprised that she is not like that in the dvd. She's very down to earth and supportive, not overly fake either. So, my friends warned me that it would be a killer work out. It was. I haven't worked out in a little over a year (was pregnant), so I am not in the best of shape. However, I liked this dvd and look forward to progressing through the different levels.

Anyone else starting this dvd and want to join me in trying to get fit again using this system?

I have been using it for a while, but not on a consistent basis. It is a good workout. I will join you on using it and trying to get in shape! Good luck. I will let you know how it goes.

I keep hearing about this video and like the idea of something I can do at home. Can you do it on a rest day from weightlifting or would it be considered a lifting workout? Can I use it in combination with my New Rules of Lifting program?

She has you use handweights for a few of the exercises in level one, but not that much (she doesn't let you rest, she does a mix of cardio, abs and some reps with handwts). I think it would be a good dvd to use on your, "off" days from your regular workout. My friend who uses it normally runs 3x a wk and she uses this dvd in btwn her running days and loves it. She warned me that it would kick my butt. I like that it is challenging w/o being frustrating if that makes any sense.

I'll finish my first 30-days tomorrow with 3 lbs weights and I saw amazing results. I didn't think I would ever see abs again after 3 kids.

I want to do it again with 5 lbs, so I'm in.

Joy, that is great to hear! Did you start out with 3 lbs weights from the very beginning or did you start with lower wts? I'm happy to hear you had such great results. I haven't seen my abs in a longgg time, and admittedly never had the greatest abs even before having kids.

I started it last Monday(28th)- my first big workout since baby #3(I am almost 6 weeks postpartum). I found it really challenging the first day but it is getting easier already. I started last week so my goal is to finish by the end of January but having 1 day a week w/ p90x (or other ) yoga workout in there. I started w/ 4 lb weights and am certainly finding it challenging. I like that it is nice and short though, it is interval which I love and it has lots of bodyweight exercises as well.

I started with the 3 lbs weights from the beginning.

I finished my first 30-days this morning. Here's my final results:
arms: lost 1/2"
waist: lost 3 1/2"
legs: lost 5"
I didn't lost any weight with the Holidays and all, but I'm much stronger with actual muscle definition.

Wow! Bravo! It helps to see results. I probably won't measure myself other than weight and seeing how my clothes fit. In the past I've gotten really discouraged trying to work out, b/c I have not seen any results. So, I am hoping that I will feel/see a difference this time. I had DS3 5 mo ago and he is my last one, so I'm just ready to get rid of all the extra wt I've packed on in the past 10 yrs.

Did this for the first time today. It kicked my butt. I'm going to try to keep it up for 30 days. I'm hoping this thread will help keep me on track.

This sounds interesting. My goal is to lose 20 pounds by March 30th. I do some Biggest Loser workouts but I haven't done the 30 Day Shred but I'm going to give it a try.

Second day today, and I finding myself loving it and hating it simultaneously. At this point I feel simultaneously whipped and energized, if that makes any sense. That must be The Fear Leaving the Body.

I just did level 3 for the first time (I have been doing the workouts for several weeks now, but not every day) and it kicked my butt. I know the feeling of loving it and hating it at the same time like the PP stated. It is so true. I am not noticing results like I was hoping, but I am sure they will come with more time. I am sure the banana chocolate chip muffins I ate today didn't help the cause either!

I hate workout videos but I like this one. Every second of it counts, like she says -- it's only 20 minutes plus warm up and cool down, so there's really no excuse not to do it. And even though I thought I was in pretty good shape the first time I tried it, it kicked my butt!!

ITA with everything people say about not normally liking workout videos, but liking her. Something about her style just works for me. i think I like that it's not cheesy like most of them are. And I'm pushed-- but I can *do* it, unlike some of the videos where I find myself tripping up over footwork.

I keep starting but then only get two or three days in and get sore... and quit. I am sooo determined to keep at it this time. DH and I are looking at TTC this winter, and I want to lose some pooch so the baby belly shows better!

i'm thinking of getting this.. it's very encouraging hearing your results... i have a love/hate relationship with just about all forms of exercise, except walking, lol. hate it while i'm doing it, but so glad i did it when i'm done! i'm really looking for a short routine to do early in the morning before the kids get out of bed and my day gets hectic.... my motviation dwindles as the day goes on! if i do it first thing, at least it's out of the way!

Day 3 today and I was so sore this morning that I thought I'd never make it out of bed. Thank goodness for harassing 6 year olds. She's determined that I stay on track. So I dragged my achy body outta bed and tied my shoes on and hit the floor. I was so surprised at how much I didn't hurt as long as I was exercising. Completely counterintuitive. The workout has probably been the least painful part of my morning. Yay!

Go, mamas, Go!

Definitely keep moving. It will help with the soreness.
