kitchen aid ice cream maker

I got thsi for Christmas and I'm really excited. I get to make ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbets, all that and it won't have those weird ingredients I can't pronounce in them. The problem is I have no idea where to start. I've never made ice cream before so I feel like I'm going to mess it up. Anyone have any foolproof recipes?

Did the ice cream attachment come with a booklet with instructions and a fe recipes? That is where I started. I have made ice cream with it a few times and it was very good. Now we most often use it for sorbets - I just run some berries and a little juice through the blender or food processor and then through the ice cream maker. The manual was helpful for knowing how much can be put through at one time and how long to run it for.

Sometime around when we got our ice cream maker, I came across some basics to ice cream and sorbet in a martha stewart mag and we've used that pretty much exclusively. I've been really pleased with her ice cream recipes.

I also highly recommend doing mango/papaya sorbets (or anything blended with either of those). They're fantastic and so creamy, and pretty difficult to screw up.

Epicurious has some great tried and true recipes. Specifically the Honey Lavender and the Maple Butter Pecan recipes. I use those recipes as the base for any flavor I want to make.
