couple of questions

Thread Starter
DD is 13 months today and I have a couple of nursing toddler questions.

Anyone know why so many of them call it Nini or something close to that? I have heard so many people say that is how their children refer to it but never thought of why until DD started saying it pleadingly tonight while tugging on my shirt? Just curious, we have always called it Mama Milky (pronounced miwky haha).

Which brings me to my second questions - what to do about the tugging on my clothing? I rarely ever tell her she cannot nurse right now, although I do occassionally "cut her off" when she is monkeying around and hurting me or biting but I don't want to nurse her when she does this because i don't want the behavior to continue. She knows the sign, has a "milky dance" and now says Nini so there really is no need for the strip tease to communicate her desires! It's just started so I feel like I have a window here where I could try to nip it in the bud!

Be thankful it's nini and not something obvious like... BOOOB! Yeah... somehow in my postpartum sleepless daze, I started calling nursing booboos. So now my 18mo will launch herself at my breasts yelling BOOBS!! There's really no explaining away that one :-D

I still haven't figured out the tugging on clothing - I had a zippered shirt on the other day, and came back to pick up DD from her grandparents (first date since she was born!) She took one look at me, grabbed both sides of my shirt and pulled, yelling BOOBS! Predictably, the shirt unzipped straight to my navel in about 2 sec flat, right in front of my ILs. So yeah - if you figure that one out, I'd love pointers!

3 kids and it's always been nini in this house as well. As far as the clothing, well, good luck with that one. You can encourage her to sign, and as she gets older, she will probably start to use it more.
