would you name your daughter Jessica if your last name was...

James??

Yep, you got it Jessie James.

Ds is named Francis - we call him Frank. Frank James was Jessie James's brother & part of the James gang. DH thinks it would be cool to have both Frank & Jessie running around.

He also thinks a name like this would be defining & give our child an advantage by having instant name recognition. I would rather have our kids make a name for themselves.

He makes me feel like I'm nuts for not liking his name choice. I just dont want our DD named after an outlaw.

Honest opinions please!!!

No, I would not. I really dislike Jessica anyway. DH wanted to name a DS Jesse James, but I put my foot down (& had 3 girls in a row).

I would not. And besides, who needs easy recognition if it's that type? Your name choice should also be something you both agree on. I personally would not agree on that...lol.

I dont like jessica either. I used to work with a wacko named that & now its tainted for me.

What is with the guys & the fascination with Jesse James???

if I liked the name, yes I would. (btw, I have some friends who named their DD Jessie James!) I admit I didn't really like it at first but now I think it's cute! d

ha! My name is, well maiden anyhow...Jessica Jaynes. Pretty similar. Growing up I had a few people call me Jessie James, my best friend calls me that sometimes. I actually kept my name when I got married; I got rid of my middle name and I am now Jessica Jaynes Paez. I like my name. I always thought it would be kind of cool if my last name had been James, because most people think it is at first mention anyhow without knowing how it's spelled.

I like the name Jessica, perhaps a more modern twist is Jessa and I thought about naming our daughter that, but we have a boy.

I really like the name Jessica, but I probably wouldn't do it. Not because of the Jesse James thing, but because there is actually a porn star named Jessica Jaymes. Thanks to my younger brother for that little bit of knowledge.

My name is jessica and i do not like people to shorten it, since i love my name. So, Jessica James-think of it as the whole name because she can tell people she prefers Jessica over jess or jesse.

Hrm, I think naming your kids in a theme is weird- since your son is Frank James.

I really think it would get annoying to be named Jessie James. Especially as a girl (although I kinda think naming a boy Jesse these days is cruel, but that's just me).

Also, isn't Jessica CRAZY common? My sister is Jessica, she always had 3-4 other Jessica's in all her classes and now works with another Jessica, etc.

The first thing I thought of was that it sounded like a porn star name. Sorry

no..but im not into popular names anyways.

I think you would need to have a pretty wicked sense of humor to name your dd this....much like the parents of Shanda Lear, or Ima Pigg. Your dd would need to have a big sense of humor to live with this name gracefully. I would certainly be hesitant.
could you use Jessica as a middle name instead of a first?
I think if you like the name Jessica, independent of the last name, go for it. If your last name was Lawrence or Wade, would you name her Jessica? If that is the case, I wouldn't avoid it based on your last name. It is not like Mary Chismas (whom I went to school with, lol). However, if you are picking it so you can shorten to a family theme name...well, I may avoid it myself. That being said, your LO, you call it!

Absolutely. That is AWESOME!

I would if I loved them name Jessica, but not for the reason your husband wants to, unless you liked the association too.

I know your name is Jessica, but I am not a fan as I said before bec of someone I knew & didnt like. If I went for it, which I am not leaning towards, I would actually try to get DH to go for just jessie & not jessica.

I have an acquaintance who named their son Jesse James (first and middle name) Their last name is Bond.

Jesse James Bond. Yep.

Anyway, regarding your dilemma, I would. But only if I really loved the name.
