Mucous Plug to baby, how long?

I'm just curious...

When did you lose your mucous plug? Was it during labor (regular contractions), hours before baby came? Or was it days or even weeks prior to labor really starting? If you know, about how far dilated were you when it happened?

For me, I lost dd's mucous plug after hours of regular contractions (7-10 minutes apart). It came out in two chunks, streaked with red blood and I was probably 3-4cm dilated. Dd was born about 12 hours later. I'm pg with baby #2 right now and lost his plug last night and this morning. It was tinged with brown/pink last night and this morning had some red blood. I am not having any regular contractions, just sporadic and weak ones. I am at least 5cm dilated, but probably more. Still wondering when baby will make his appearance!

What were your experiences?

I have initially lost my plug around 32/33 weeks, and that's also when I really start dilating...with both girls I've been a couple cm's by that point (no ctx more than just regular BH's). However, the plug just keeps regenerating of course, and it made no difference for me anyway since I went the full 40 weeks both times.

I didn't realize this! It makes sense, though. Do you know how long it takes to regenerate?

With my first, it was a couple weeks before she was born. With my other two, I never noticed losing it.

DS1 - lost it a little at a time for a month. Bloody show was 2 hours before birth.

DD - plug and bloody show started 4 days before birth.

DS2 - plug and bloody show 6 hours before birth.

I've usually had mucous plug (with bloody show) about 24 hours before baby!

That would be nice! This mucous plug just keeps on coming! More in the shower, more last time I used the bathroom. All blood tinged. How much plug can one person possibly have? Or is it regenerating by the hour?
