Playgroup in Tucson 2010 - Page 15

I think the insurance found a ped for him. I haven't been able to go yet because they ONLY have newborn appts at 10 a.m. no others throughout the day. Really??!!!...SOOOO glad that you work with your patients schedules . At this point i'm lucky to have my head on straight by 10 let alone getting out of the house. Gah.

Ayn~ I hope we get to see you guys several times before you leave! Wed is a good park day for us cause dd doesn't have preschool. Course as I mentioned about I can't really get there till almost 11.

VENT AHEAD:
BAH HUMBUG Stupid budget cuts and stupid city can't figure out how to balance a checkbook. I can't believe that after FINALLY being able to take advantage of the discounted parks and rec stuff b/c i FINALLY live in town now they change it to basically be NOT HELPFUL. Its only taking 25% off of kidco, clubs and one other thing...all things that I have not/can not use yet nor do I know yet IF i am going to need those next year but I WAS poor enough that I was getting a 90% discount. I really can't afford more than that but hey just like always the poorest people who NEED these types of services don't get them. My kids need something to do this summer but with no financial grants coming from ANYTHING I guess we'll twiddle our thumbs.

/VENT

Also my BF's kids will be here this summer. That's 5 kids! they are 5 and 8 so at least one is the same age range but I don't know what we are going to do for fun. I guess biweekly park days, go to brandi fenton 1x a week and maybe the library 1x a week.

Hey Danielle- that's is really wierd about the ped. good luck there. how's he doing by the way?

I hope we get to see you guys a lot too before we go! I think wed. would work out ok for us too. Is conner still good for you? we actually just found out we'll be here a little longer than we thought, around 8-10 weeks or so. So we should be able to get together!

That REALLY sucks about the parks and rec stuff! so sorry
sounds like you've got some ideas going...you'll need to keep all those those kids busy!

Is there going to be a meetup this week? I'm really trying to acclimate Cecilia to the hated carseat, so it helps to have places to go!

Don't know about meetups. However, my son HATED carseats until just before his first birthday. Just to get from near the U to the birth center usually had me stopping a couple times to calm him down. I gave up a lot of activities to keep him out of the carseat. If we were traveling with my husband, he would drive and I would be in the backseat singing to our son.

Then Christmas was planned for San Francisco. I didn't want to fly because of cold and flu season. A couple weeks before Christmas (his birthday) he was suddenly okay with the carseat. We took 2 days to drive to SF and he was fine the whole way.

So, trying to acclimate may not work. Just live through it until she outgrows it.

Out of curiosity, was it a bucket seat or a convertible seat? From what I hear, a lot of babies hate the bucket and do better with the convertible (of course we have a bucket).

Initially it was a bucket, but he didn't do that much better when we transitioned him to the convertible.

My daughter never had any problems with the carseat. It was such a blessing. Of course, she was such a light sleeper that I couldn't even turn off the car without her waking up if she'd fallen asleep. So I drove around through lots of naptimes that happened while we were out and about. Thankfully she will now stay awake if I turn off the car. (Moot point now that it's too hot to sit outside, but for a few months there I just parked in the driveway and read a book while she slept and my son climbed our tree.)

Happy Mother's Day, mamas! I am so happy to be a part of this group now after years of pining for a baby. I'm so thrilled my dream come true is here!

Happy Mothers' Day All

This is a memory filled day for me. I found out I was pregnant the Thursday before Mothers' Day in 2005 and the judge signed the order certifying us to adopt the Thursday before Mothers' Day 3 years later.

Happy Mother's Day

So glad that you are a mama now too Aimme!!

I hear you about the memories Pam!
Zoe was born on Mother's Day 3 years ago!! (13th)
We are celebrating mother's day today with two grandma's, and even Dad-he's a Chef so he's always been working on Mother's day every other year!

I would love to get together at Conner Park this Thursday if anyone is able to for a very informal celebration of Zoe's birthday with her friends
Please let me know if anyone is up for it on such short notice!

Things have been sooo crazy around here- Looks like we have our house sold!! Dad leaves for Seattle soon, and we'll follow a few weeks after...so much to do!

That is truly wonderful. I know I really think back to my son's birth on Christmas morning when the holidays roll around. What memories Mother's Day must bring up for you.

That would be awesome-if things work out-I hope she lets you get some more sleep soon!
I'll bring those diapers, and clothes, in case you make it-maybe some milk too-I haven't had a moment to try to pump yet! We're finally done with all of the paperwork for the house sale, so maybe this week

I'm thinking between 11:30-12:00pm like i said-totally informal-don't bring presents or anything! We had her "party" today. I just want her to have some fun on her actual bday

Sounds good to me! I'll message you early on Thurs. if it's shaping up to be a meltdown day but otherwise we'll be there. Cecilia actually seems to like being out and about once she's out of the hated carseat.

awesome- I'm sure you have, but have you tried keeping the carseat covered with a towel or blanket? I've even heard of people throwing a big ice pack into the car seat before the babe goes in ?? None of my kids liked the car seat either- it sucks!

Oh that's right!! I hope you do make it- how long do you guys have left in Tucson? We definitely need to get together sooon. Yesterday Zoe was very upset Kiera wasn't at her party- I tried telling her this was a party just with her FAMILY. Why do I still try to reason with toddlers!? You'd think I would know better by now!

On the carseat thing. My baby who absolutely always had to be in contact with me hated the carseat. My baby that sometimes liked to be put down out of arms was fine in the carseat. I always thought his dislike of the carseat was more about wanting to be held by me.
we will try to be at the park on thurs. it'll just be ethan and the baby but it'll still be fun!

R's doing great. the strep a is all gone. we got through a big fussy week or so last week/week before. things are starting to have a pace to them but still pretty wonky!

anyone have boxes? me and bf are moving so we have space for all the kids (and heck OURSELVES) and likely to be moving in 3 weeks so i have to start packing...oh yay not sure how i'm going to swing that. R needs to be put back to sleep every half hour and then nurses for an almost an hour out of 3. gah.

This makes a lot of sense; Cecilia isn't the type to sleep in a swing or bouncer or bassinet. She only sleeps when she's snuggled by someone. And she definitely does better in the car when someone's back there with her.

that's so true!
I'm lucky that I usually have my 15yo to sit in the back w/ the little one's.

re: carseats... carter screamed every second in the carseat until he was 1, it was terrible. hazel is more chilled out, but she still gets upset. it helps a lot to hold her hand or let her suck my finger (which requires some awkward manuevering while i'm driving).

would love to see you guys at connor park if i can swing it w/ naptime.... 11:30 is usually exactly when c needs to nap.
