The SIMs series of games has similar building elements, SIMs Towers in particular had a very similar game feel.

For plants and such:

http://www.bigfishgames.com/download...63/garden.html has a ton of downloadable garden-related games.

oh thank you sapphire. yeah its kinda what i am looking for.

so i am going to ask some more questions as this is all v. new to me.

and i want to learn about games so that i can one day continue to connect with my future teen.

so i have come across the term SIMs but dont understand it. is it a type of game? simulation?

so what are the type of games out there. creating where you build cities and action games right?!!!

my dd is 7. there is no denying it. she is going to get into video games. i am assuming right now she is not going to get into action games because of her anxiety. she cant handle missing, losing, etc. which is why i am interested in the 'creation' games which teach her strategies.

thankfully i talked out of the dsi and she is willing to get a netbook to play her games either downloaded or online.

SIMs is that game where you have, for instance, a family of people and you sort of control them. Like send mom to work and have the son make a sandwich and eat it. SIMS Tower has you running a big multi-use apartment building. You build floors and add amenities and that gets you money to build more floors and pay for maintenance costs and such. Then there's upgrades and so forth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sims is a good overview of the SIMs universe.

SimTower http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimTower is apparently not at all related,

I love Zoo Tycoon.

You basically build your own zoo. It very effortlessly teaches you about animals and different habitats, and it is simply a lot of fun. If you get into it, it goes into expansions for Marine Animals, African Adventure, Extinct Species and Endangered Species.
