I'm so totally going to do that when our tank comes this time! That's awesome!!

QOTD- DS loves the Hungry Caterpillar. He keeps trying to pull the little things off the pages. We used to like the Berenstain Bears or Clifford, the Big Red Dog books when I was little. Monster at the End of Book is also very cute. I don't have these two books, but I need to get them: The Giving Tree (Shel Silverstein)and Love you Forever Robert Munsch). Just looking at the picture on the front of Love You Forever makes me tear up.

Oops! I forgot to answer my own QOD! Lol.

QO(yester)D - I also love the Eric Carle books, esp. the Very Angry Ladybug. Also dig on the Sabuda pop-up fairytale books.

Monarchgrrl - Sorry about AF, dear. I can totally understand about wanting to get a doc's help sooner rather than later, (and I'm sure you already know this) but even under the best of circumstances w/ perfect timing, it takes an average of 6 months (or more!). Fingers crossed that next month will be it, and it'll be a moot point!

Papa - I think your testing strategy is a good one, especially since you know yourself well enough to know that if you get a neg pee stick (which WON'T happen!!) that you'll not want to do the beta. Stay strong!!!

milletpuff - yay for the donor you want!!!! Wooohoooooooo! Don't worry about the months off. The only reason you'll be taking months off is because you'll be knocked up.

AFM - Do you see what I see?

Good morning! You may have seen the thread I started yesterday before I was pointed in the right direction. I spent part of this morning trying to get caught up on folk's stories within this thread, though I still feel like I have a lot of reading/learning to do. For instance, I'm still switching back and forth between the definitions page and the thread.

Anyway, once I get the hang of things, I'm looking forward to posting more and learning more about you all.

As for QO(somedaysago)D, our name conversations have bordered on the ridiculous, mostly as a way of injecting some humor into the process (no, we are not actually going to name our child Pterodactyl *wink*), and we will likely choose a name that reflects my brother (who died 3 years ago) and another family member - though we struggle with choosing gendered names.

As for books, I'm still stuck on The Giant Jam Sandwich and Could Be Worse (while <3ing a number of the classics people have already mentioned).

So, I guess I need to figure out how to say which part of my cycle I'm in - I guess I'm waiting to know?

Hello all!

How wonderful that after all of last month's confusion and squinting at ambiguous lines, you got such a CLEAR, UNAMBIGUOUS BFP ON A DIGI AT 10DPO!! CONGRATULATIONS! You don't seem all that surprised...
:br oc

I'm so happy for you and wishing you a very easy and healthy pregnancy.

AFM, I haven't been posting, because we're still waiting to start...hopefully next cycle (late Feb). We're using a KD through PRS, and the process has been unbelievably slow and complicated. He started his "deposits" but had low post-thaw counts (probably bc he was fighting off the flu, it turns out, and had lots of white blood cells in there), so we're waiting for him to recover fully, and then we'll retest and see how things look. I'm feeling surprisingly (and uncharacteristically) zen; I think this is because I have such a very strong feeling that he is the right donor for us and for our family (he is the husband of a very close friend). Meanwhile, I'm finally losing some weight, taking vitamins, weaning off of coffee, and generally creating a more welcoming and hospitable environment for a wee one.

Quick question: my pre-O basal temps are quite low (96.3 to 96.6), I have a LOT of variation in my follicular phase (ranges from day 14-22), and I have only a 10 day LP. I am using progesterone cream during the LP, but does anyone have suggestions for vitamins or herbs that I might take throughout my cycle to support more consistency and perhaps higher progesterone? Or I am obsessing for no good reason? I should probably ask my midwife, but I thought I'd poll the experts here, first . Thanks!

Awesome, Lyndzies! My fingers are crossed that it sticks and is healthy.

You totally sound like me. My pre-O temps are a bit higher than yours (high 96s to low 97s) but still low compared to others, short (10-11 day) LP, although I O regularly around CD 20. And we did the KD through a bank thing (PITA, let me tell you, but we live far apart so it seemed like the best way at the time). We ran through our stock after 8 months of BFNs and are looking at other options. B-6 works for some people, but didn't do anything for me. Same with Vitex and FertileAid. On Vitex, my cycle went from 31ish days to 28, but I still O'd around CD19. I also did 3 cycles with prog. cream with no real notable changes to my LP. So now I'm at the acupuncturist and just started TCM herbal formulas. It might be something for you to check out. Have you had your actual hormone levels checked? I would also give you the advice I didn't take, and try any herbs/vitamins/etc. for at least a month or two before TTC so you're not going crazy wondering WTH is going on with your body while trying to schedule sperm deliveries or in the TWW!

Good luck, and hopefully your journey is an easy one!

Thank you all so much!!! I am thrilled beyond words, and can't wait to tell DP tonight! (seems weird to email her a pic or tell her on the phone). I really didn't think it would be positive, so I didn't think twice about testing alone!

Papa... Last cycle there was a whole lotta question about O date, but this cycle it is pretty darn clear (esp w/ OPKs). But you're right! Who the heck cares! Although a digi at 10 dpo, (CBE picks up 50miu, I think?) does make me wonder about the "T" word that runs in my family.... not sure if it runs in KD's or not. Whatever. I'm just happy to be knocked up right now, in this moment!

I'm scheduled to go for a blood draw tomorrow at 10:15 since I had the early loss/chemical in July, and my OB wanted to check my levels right away when I got another BFP.

Oh and Papa - you're totally joining me over in Q&P this cycle! As are a whole lot of ya!

Hi Amanda,

I seem to remember low pre-O temps being about thyroid, but I can't remember why I think that. Have you had your thyroid tested? Even though it's technically normal to be under 4.0 on your TSH, anything over 1.0 is considered subclinical hypothyroid. It won't mess up your health generally for most, but it can make it hard to get and stay pregnant.

Have you checked against another thermometer? It is possible yours is off, but I would expect your whole cycle to be low if that's the case.

Another thing to know is that the stat I've heard is that only about 10% of guys actually have decent sperm counts post-thaw. That is in part why the banks are so selective. Is there a reason you're freezing sperm, other than shipping? By all means wait for the repeat test, but it may not be as good as you hope.

Anecdotally, I don't know anyone who has gotten pregnant using frozen sperm from a KD doing IUI, I'm not saying it can't happen, just that the stats show that frozen sperm is not as good, and yet the two REs I've talked to about it has dismissed my concerns saying it's a non-issue for IUIs, but that is simply not the case when using a KD's sperm rather than that from a guaranteed anonymous donor. Just sayin'. I was pressured to freeze my KDs sperm, and I absolutely rejected that as an option, because there are no guarantees, and it's prohibitively expensive.
