Sure she can. And she can go elsewhere if the OB won't give her what she wants. The OB who did mine wanted to staple, but my DH was adamant that I be stitched, so he stitched. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, my DH is a physician so that might have carried more weight, but in this case where the OP is planning a c/s before hand (mine was an emergency) it's something reasonable to discuss.

Apparently there's a growing trend around here to use DermaBond instead of stitches or staples. That freaks me out a bit.

Except that they do stitches for every c-section anyway. The uterus is always stitched closed, as are all or most of the layers of tissue up to the skin. I wasn't aware of this until after mine So practice with stitching isn't really an issue.

I had no issues with the staples after my first or second section, either. The tearing loose was only after my fourth and fifth. I didn't know how much more painful than stitches they were until I finally got stitches with my fifth. That section also included extensive excision of scar tissue, and a tubal...but I was in less pain than I ever had been before. From what I've heard from other women who have had multiple sections, and a tubal/section combination, it's very unusual to be in less pain when a tubal is done at the same time.

I think you heal really well. I was out grocery shopping, and talking to ds1's counsellor, only 4 days after my fourth section, but that's very misleading. My mom went with me to the grocery store, and she put almost everything in the cart for me, while I walked through the store hanging onto the cart for dear life.

I had a c section because of a breech baby. everyone has great suggestions but just wanted to add two more

right before the surgery I told my mw that even though I wanted to be told what was happening, I didn't want her to use the words "cut" or another similar word. With very little warning she did a great job. She used the word open. It meant a lot to me because not only was it a surgery it was my birth.

I don't know if you are familiar with flower essences, rescue remedy is a popular one. There are many others out there that could help you. You could read about them and figure out what makes the most sense to you. I have a practitioner help me figure out which ones help me, and they can be amazing. I highly recommend this for staying calm and in the moment in a healthy way. PM me if you are interested in info about my practitioner. If you google flower essences you will get lots of information to do it on your own.

eta: I didn't have stitches or staples, I had tape and it was great
