Worried, concerned - cinema

Hi there, I generally post on the April board but I thought I would ask
everyones opinion on this topic...

Hey everyone! I went to see "Avatar 3D" with my DH and during
the movie I became very worried and concerned about the baby
because I've never felt him so active before. The movements,
the kicking, everything was extreme... almost the whole movie!
I don't know if this was because of the sound, the vibrations, my
feelings during the movie? Was he so active like "get me out of here"
or "hey, this is fun!"... I really don't know if I should go to the cinema
again before he is born. If anyone has any ideas, info, hints... I
would really appreciate it. Thanks!
LG Jennifer

I don't really have any advice, but I have gone to the movies quite a few times in the last couple of months and every time my baby is also super active. It doesn't bother me, though. I am thinking she likes it!

I played a lot of concerts (not acoustic!) when I was pregnant with DD and she moved a lot during some of the songs and calmed down between. She LOVES music now and knows exactly what she likes and not. I think your babe is getting excited about what the outside world holds. Exciting! I think you've got a movie fan in there!

Yeah, I wonder the same thing. I was at a place with very loud music once and my baby became abnormally active. For some reason I had the feeling that he was moving so much because he didn't like it and wanted out. ...but I don't really know. I wasn't feeling so good at the time and the music was a bit obnoxious.

Curious to see what others say about this.

Hey, I know you! <waves> It's Grace.

I went to see Avatar on New Years Eve and baby moved like MAD the whole way through, which is funny since he's usually a pretty chill kid.

I know with Nigella she moved a lot when I would listen to music, sing, or when daddy would talk, and those were the things that helped her calm down when she was upset after she was born. I think moving is general an "I like this" sort of thing.

Because really... I could see the womb getting pretty dull after awhile. Gurgly belly noises, muffled voices, occasional loud noises like a car door slamming or dog barking. Something to break up the monotony is probably pretty nice!

First I think that Avatar is a great film, but it is a LONG film. And sitting for almost three hours I don't think is very comfortable for a lot of pregnant women. The same thing happens to me on planes.

I didn't go see it in 3d though as sometimes 3d gives me a headache.

I've seen it twice now (AWESOME movie by the way) and my babe was really active during pretty much the entire movie. I could tell that he was enjoying the music and vibrations. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

He also gets really active when my husband talks politics, when I listen to certain music, and especially when watching anything with Alton Brown (from the Food Network. He LOVES Alton). It's great!

Thank you so much for the positive replies everyone...
the over activity in my belly had me really freaked out...
again because I wasn't sure if it was a bad thing or a
good thing. I didn't have any sweets during the movie
or any soft drinks... just some salted popcorn*yum*
popcorn
I need to figure out what to see next

I am choreographer and I just finished working on a show with a swing /jazz band. The baby went crazy during rehearsal. I thought it was cool!

I went to my first concert since becoming pregnant when I was about 23 weeks along and POW I have NEVER been hit that hard that much even thus far!! It was so disruptive, and I could tell in not a positive way, that my DH and I left.

I could feel the bass in my belly though, and I just think it may have caused some fear for the LO since it was a brand new sensation and very intense..

glad to hear it's not uncommon though! I'm reconsidering going to the movies.

I remember seeing movies while I was pregnant with my son... I think its a mixture of mommy is relaxing (when you move it rocks them to sleep, when you relax they wake up... this was horrible for sleeping in the third trimester with him) and these new and totally different sounds and voices. I do not believe it hurt them any... as it is not horribly loud. I wouldnt suggest going to a rock concert and standing in front of the speakers... no. But theatre speakers are nowhere near as loud.

BTW, Avatar was awesome LOL and the last movie I saw before finding out I am pregnant!

Heh, I noticed that this weekend when I was seeing Avatar too. I think my babies like the sounds of battle! With my first baby, the most movement I ever felt was when I went to my brother's high school play, during the sword-fighting scene. It was the time for counting 10 movements in 2 hours, like they have you do, and he got his 10 movements in about 18 seconds.
