Literature book to accompany a botany unit?

My fifth grader is doing a botany main lesson unit. I'd like to give him a chapter book to read independently, but he's already read The Secret Garden and Mandy. Do you have any other good suggestions for me?

I'll look into those! I grabbed My Side of the Mountain, but will probably need a second book as well.

Subbing... I taught botany lectures when I was in college (LOVE botany) I can look through my old stuff and see if there are any 5th grade appropriate titles that stand out... if I can FIND my old stuff, BBL!

So I have been actively searching for my botany materials..not luck so far... but I will keep looking. I did have another thought... don't know how you feel about TV/media but have you ever watched the documentary (based on the book by the same name) "The Secret Lives of Plants"? It uses time lapse photography to show the growth and development of plants and is completely and totally fascinating... I'll keep looking for lit ideas but wanted to tell you about this before I forgot!
