state laws? Colorado

Okay, another question, I'm sure there is a thread on this already but I can't find it. Is there a site or resource for what each state requires? I live in Colorado and don't think there is any kind of testing we have to do but I'm not sure. Anyone have the laws for homeschooling if there are any?

This is the Colorado state homeschool law with the exception of the amendment that was made a couple years ago stating that the compulsory age of attendance is now 6 instead of 7. However, homeschoolers only must submit an NOI at the age of 6 and can begin instruction at the age of 7.

You must test or submit an assessment in grades 3, 5, 7 and 9. Besides doing the assessment, I also did the CAT test ordered from Christian Liberty. They send you the test, you administer it then send it back. They will send the results back to you and you send it to the school district you sent your NOI to.

If you are around the Denver metro area, a great evaluator is Cheryl Kasson. She homeschooled her children as well.

Shianne beat me to it . Her link is the official CDE info. There is also info on CO regs here.

In terms of testing, like mentioned above, you don't have to start until grade 3 and then do it biannually. Your child doesn't have to do fabulously on the tests (at or above the 13th percentile on a nationally normed test), though. In addition to the CAT test the pp mentioned, you can also order and administer the ITBS or SAT10 from Bob Jones or Triangle Educational Assessments if you have at least a B.A. The CSAP does not count as a nationally normed test even though your district will probably give you the option of having your child take it at his/her neighborhood school. I don't know why anyone would opt to take the CSAP if it doesn't meet the achievement testing requirement.
