effective probitoic in cap form?

I try really hard to get probiotics daily. I have a powder form. I am really bad at getting the powder mixed with something and remembering to get it down. I'd love to take one that is as effective but in a pill or capsule form.

Anyone have a recommendation?

I use the Acidophilus Pearls brand. It's in a blue box and I get them for about $30 for a 90 day supply. I like them because they don't have to be refrigerated. For me, if a vitamin needs to sit in the fridge, I forget to take it because it's not out with my other supplements.

VSL is the best probiotic out there. it has like 9 billion live cultures per capsule. nothing even come close to that. awesome stuff. just google VSL probiotic.

eta: there is a packet and a pill form. the packet has 450 billion cultures.

I personally really like Jarro-Dophilus EPS http://www.jarrow.com/product/228/Jarro_Dophilus_EPS . It's room temperature stable and enteric coated so that it doesn't begin to dissolve in your stomach acid. It gets the good bacteria to where it needs to go to be useful.

I take these by Dr. Ohira

Lots of good reviews on them...but that's as much as I really know.

I've taken probiotics for my leaky gut syndrome for a number of years. I started with Renew Life Ultimate FLora: Critical Care. Each serving (I think it's 2 caps) contains 50 billion cfu. It's supposed to be terrific, but I never saw a whole lot of benefit from it, though several of my friends have. I have major intestinal issues, though, and only found great relief and healing when I started VSL#3. 2 caps = 225 billion cfu. I recently switched to the prescription only version, called VSLDS. It stands for "Double strength" but it's actually quadruple strength. Each packet contains 900 billion cfu. I mix the whole packet into some organic, sugar-free apple butter I make in the crock pot. It tastes like apple butter over ice cream. My daughter loves it too. We take it first thing in the morning and wait one hour to eat breakfast. I can't say enough about this stuff. It may be unnecessary if you don't have bowel issues, but it's the only thing I'd recommend if you do. Here's their website: www.vsl3.com

I second the recommendation of Dr. Ohhira for probiotics. It gets rave reviews.

I also prefer to take my probiotic in a pill form. If it's in the fridge, away from all of my other supplements, I forget to take it. Plus, then there's the issue of mixing it with something and all that. Anyway, I love the Acidophilus Pearls. They are enteric coated to ensure that all of the bacteria get to your digestive tract alive. They have worked very well for both my husband and I. And I love the convenience of being able to travel with them, or keep some in my purse or at work for when I might need an extra dose.

These are the same ones that I take - they are super convenient and have worked well for me. (I'm not pregnant, but they have helped with a couple minor "gastro issues" I've been having recently and in the past.)
