Hi, looking for a little advice or wisdom or input. This is baby #5 for me. All normal uncomplicated vaginal deliveries so far. Last baby was my first homebirth this will be my second. My last 2 babies were posterior due to anterior placenta and this one is as well. It didnt cause any problems for me as they found their way turninging just as labor started or right before. I didnt think it would be an issue this time either but have started having some problems.

I am 39+2 weeks now and for the last 2 nights have been having horrible contractions. Partner and I were intimate and immediately they started up. I wouldnt have thought much or gotten too excited except they started so quickly and were so intense and close together. They were about every 2 mins, but only 30 seconds long but the intensity of real labor contractions as if I were nearing transition. The kind you can barely breathe through, cant focus on anything else till its over kind. I also got the shivers like I did with my other labors so I just KNEW it was the real thing only was confused why they werent regular. They would peter out if I laid down on my side for long enough without moving but if I so much as changed positions slightly it triggered another horrific contraction that I had to moan through. of course they eventually stopped and I woke in the morning tired, lacking of sleep and miserable to have thought it was for nothing.

Well, wouldnt you know last night the same thing. Two nights in a row only last night the pain was worse. I didnt think that was possible. They were so intense It rivaled my transition type contractions of past labors. However, they were not regular, never lasting more than 45 seconds and came anywhere from every minute to every 15 depending on whether i was up and moving around. The bath slowed them and eventually I was able to fall asleep again around 5 am. The main difference I thought was that I had tons of bloody show last night. However I think this was due to yet another cervial check which was a bit more detailed to try and get a better idea of where I was. Guess what? No change since 37 weeks.

I am 3-4 cm and 50% effaced. Very very ripe and mushy but all this nightly pain is doing jack for my cervix and just causing me tons and tons of pain. The only thing my midwife friend could tell me is that it may be the posterior presentation of baby. However I have tried everything I know since week 36 to get him to turn but darn the anterior placenta is keeping him face up. I dont know what else to do to or what could be going on I have never had prelabor or prodromal this intense or painful before when it is not doing anything to progress. Never even heard of it being this bad before. I cant stress enough the pain of these contractions that are deep pelvic ones that wrap from front to back just like real ones. No braxton hicks here.

any insight or input would be appreciated if anyone has had similar experience. Also, think mucus plug reformed, bloody show stopped few hrs ago. Think it was just dislodged from exam. Im dreaded tonight as I am sure it will be a repeat and thinking of taking benadryl and headed to bed to avoid it.
