i'd love to get some support! (and give some support too!!). i am training for my first half marathon. it is at the end of march in atlanta, and right now it seems like mt. everest to even think about running 13.1 miles. the farthest i've gone so far is seven miles and it was hard. i am using a schedule to train, and i started a diet yesterday. if i could lose 10 pounds or so, it would really help i think. my goal is not time oriented at all, but simply to finish. anyone else training?

Hi there! I am! I'm following Galloway's half plan and my half is the end of March, too (Run to the Border from Maine to MA). I post, and receive a LOT of support, on the dingo running thread but would definitely check in elsewhere, too. I have a nearly 6 month old ds and whilst I'm smack in the middle of normal weight range, would also like to lose a few pounds. Not happening at the moment, though, even with a lot of exercise and clean eating.

thanks alex! i'll need to check out the dingo thread then too! i am also fairly "average" weight for my height. i'm 5'6, and would love to get down to 125 before the half marathon... that's my goal anyway, but we'll see i think it will really help me. i looked at galloway's schedule. i like that a lot. i am using one from runner's world here: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/...X4X5-6,00.html

i've changed it some to better suit my needs and schedule, but i like the overall layout of it.

that is AWESOME btw (and totally inspiring), that you have a 6 month old baby and are training for a 1/2 marathon. kudos to you!!

Hi eliza! Seconding the invite over to the dingo thread. We have all kinds of runners training for all kinds of events, and we love helping people reach their goals!

I've run four half-marathons (not including the one in my half-ironman) and am training for my first full marathon. I did my first half not quite two years ago, mostly just to check it off my list, and kind of got hooked. I've used Hal Higdon's plans and been really happy with them. Once my marathon is done, I'm probably going to sign up for another half at the beginning of April before starting triathlon training for the summer.

I will join! I am planning to run my first half on April 10th. I am using Hal Higdon's training schedule as well and week 1 of my 12 weeks is this week. I am also fairly normal as far as weight goes but would love to drop another 8 or so lbs.

I am also training for some sprint triathlons this summer.
